My friend Joyce from Australia just sent me some Pee Wee Clark cds. Real nice playing. I haven't heard of him before. Was he from the US and moved to Australia or was he from there?
One of the cds has Pee Wee playing with Buddy Emmons though I don't really hear Buddy on steel so maybe he is playing another instrument.
Anyone know about Pee Wee?
It would be nice to find out more about him.
thanks,
Joe |

Thanks for that Buddy. I could be wrong but I think he might have passed away? I'm sure someone on the forum knows about him.
You are right, Pee Wee plays the heck out of the E9 and he's no slouch on the C6 either.

Pee Wee is still alive and kicking, he lives just south of Brisbane in Queensland. He has retired now but still has an occasional beer with Warren Nielsen.
I haven't seen him for a while but he is a good mate and helped me a lot when I first started playing my home made pedal steel that I made pretty much from car parts.
Pee Wee came to Oz in the 60's to play with Reg Lindsay who by the way is the brother in law of the late Slim Dusty and stayed. He, more than anyone I'd say bought pedal steel to the attention of the Australian public through his extensive TV appearances and live shows with Reg.
Great man and great player,a real character,I love him. He has made some fine albums over the years. |

wow, thanks guys.I guess I had it wrong! Great to hear that he is still around !
I'll have to go back and listen to the songs because his playing sure sounds like C6 but come to think of it, I don't hear the deeper sound of the low strings.
Anyone know about the album with Buddy Emmons?
I think Thumbs Carlisle is playing on one of the albums. Love Thumbs' playing.
