I have been asked to do some work on a real old triple-10 Wright steel. It has all the parts taken off of the changers. . .the underside is gutted. It was a cable drive and the owner has the removed parts. I was just wondering if any of you have any pics of how the assembled changers should look. The strings can apparently be installed rigidly thru a small plate behind the changer head and the guitar played in a non-pedal mode. When changer fingers are installed, it's a different ball game. The strings then apparently are retained by each single changer arm. It appears that these arms are capable of lowering the string's pitch, but not raising it. Am I missing something here?

Hard to say without a picture of the changer. But if those changer fingers are just solid fingers without any pivot joint in the middle, they should raise, not lower. Chuck Wright however had a lot of different designs in his guitars so it's hard to say without any photos. I can email you a couple of pics of mine if you let me know the address.

Paul,
Email David Wright. I'm sure he could dig up something for you or put you in touch with his Dad Chuck Wright.
