Doe's anyone have the ahtray bridge pickup cover for a Fender Stringmaster. Also need a knob that goes over the pickup selector switch. Original parts would be nice if possible. Please let me know of anyone who meight be of help.

Those are both pretty rare parts; probably your best bet is eBay.

The pickup/bridge cover was discussed here on another thread. Rare item to find.
The switch knob ,from what I know, is the same as available for Either a Strat or Telecaster. Your local music store may have a Fender parts display with knobs etc and have the knob you need. |

They're rare, but they don't look too difficult to make for anyone with a machine shop. Maybe someone out there could set up to do a run of them, because there's plenty of demand. |

| I was going to try and make them but then they closed the middle school shops and sent me to the hs. My plan was to hammer a piece of copper over a wood pattern. I was going to make 2 cuts to get the compound curve, fill with solder and have it plated. I think it would have worked. |

They would require a male and female die to fabricate them I think, which is not a big deal, but the cost of the dies would determine the end cost. Most people may not want to pay for one that is a short production run item (??)
I believe they would have to be made of steel or stainless steel. They are stiff enough to snap over the tips of the bridge. |

| As far as the switch tip, the originals were made by Daka Ware, Chicago, IL and are marked on the bottom of the switch. I wanted one for my T-8 Stringmaster and wound up picking one up from John at JK Lutherie. Their link is www.jklutherie.com. You can also try Ebay. Incidentally, I never installed the original on my guitar. I put the original away and put one on from Allparts. If it comes off while I am playing, I won't have to look for it on a sticky bar room floor at the end of the night. I can just go home and go to bed! |

About those Dakaware switch tips: I may be breaking a rule of supplying expensive vintage parts by telling this, but,
many electronic companies used them on their products. I bought a vacuum tube tester (TC-2) made in the early 50s by Heathkit for $10 at a hamfest some years ago that has 10 (count 'em 10) original round style Tele switch tips on it. I wish I had 10 old Teles to restore.
