I own a 65 Emmons Wraparounnd S10 that Mike Cass rebuit and it plays/sounds great but I'm looking for a more modern/smooth/easy playability. Based on his reputation I'm inclined towards a Zum S10.
Please give me some feedback: Most Zum's are D10s; do his S10s differ in some way other than that they're S10s?
Are there aspects of Zum S10s that I should check for when shopping?
Are there "good years" for his S10s?
BTW, I would consider trading the Emmons. This one looks like it's been on the road but Mike Cass rebuilt it so it works/sounds good, if a bit scratched up. Your thoughts on comparative value would be appreciated.

Peter Bruce's S10 are actually SD10's, he doesn't build them on a single body - just a double body with the pad.
They sound and play just as good as the D10's . |

I got one of the old S-10s a few months ago and I love it! Admittedly, after playing double necks for so long, I'm still trying to get comfortable with my playing position - it really feels odd to not have either a C6th neck or pad to rest my arms and elbows on.
The guitar is great, though. Even though it's light, it's incredibly stable, has amazing sustain, and plays as smoothly as all of Bruce's guitars. |

| I don't know the exact number, but there are probably at least a couple of hundred pro model single body 10 strings and many single body 12 strings. Wonderful guitars! |

| I own a 89 S-10 Zum I bought new from Bruce. It is still my #1 guitar even though I have a couple of others. It's fairly light and has held up very well. I asked him at Dallas last year about getting a new one and he told me that the number of request for S-10's is not enough to justify the minimum number of end plates he would have to take if he ordered them. |
