We shouldn't forget that jokes are a way to say what is often painful. Sometimes a jab is more appropriate than a hay-maker. Remember all the hub-bub when akey breaky heart won that award? A lot of performers spoke out against it amd it didnt change anything. You cant help what people are buying unfortunately, and thats all that recording producers et al care about.

I'm thinking, when you are as big in the biz as George is, and have as many people around you as he, there's a lot to be considered when you open your mouth on the show's of who's who. Who can deny the political side of the music industry and the negative or positive impact it can have. My hats off to George for what he has brought us and what he has accomplished. 2 cents here, maybe 3.

I have been doing some work with his nephew Todd Cordel.He is an excellent song writer too and may have something on the charts soon. This area keeps on turning them out here in a 70 mi radius we have.ETC,Roy Rogers ,Billy Ray,Lorreta Lynn,Tom T Hall,Rick Ferral who recently wrote 2 number one hits for Martina and Tim Mcgraw,Keith Whitley, and his Brother Dwight,whom I work with some is an excellent singer and songster.Tim Sargent from ashland Ky,Rickey Scaggs,Johny Paycheck,John Call just North of here .Patty Lovelesss,Dwight Yokum and .I forgot to mention Larry Flnn the Owner of penthouse mag and Katherin Battle world aclaimed Opera singer.Cowboy Copas too

Yes, the Hag was a standup guy sang about how bad the hippies were, with ther drugs and long hair at the same time doing drugs. Not to mention the man in black. But hey who remembers this. Guess I will be booted of this web site.

My opinion regarded ONLY the way Mr. Strait chose to handle the opportunity he was handed to make a worthy comment on a musical state some of us agree with and some of us don't

I think Mr Strait has done more for country music and the Pedal Steel guitar than any other country artist out there and if he wants to protect his wallet and not get nailed to the cross, I think he has earned that right.

George Strait and Alan Jackson are the only two current "country" stars that I would pay money to go see. Two weeks ago, I left a fall festival here right before Big & Rich came onto the stage. Someone would have to pay me to watch them...and it wouldn't be cheap !!! But, they were the main attraction for the entire festival...that's sad...

I think I get your point Michael, I also wish someone could do something to stop the trend In mainstream country right now, and hopefully his future music will make the statement for him.

Okay, to get back on topic for that steel guitar being loaded into the hearse, on E9 put the A pedal down and hit the Im. Then add the B pedal for the VI. Repeat three more times. That's the Funeral March, courtesy of Mr. Chopin. Think of what he could have done with a pedal steel.

We judge others by ourselves. I would never criticize Michael Douchette for his stand. I’m sure if Michael were given that opportunity he would have taken a stand. I would have on the other hand protected my wallet.

can finally have a claim to fame. that was my push_pull being loaded into that hearse.

It would surely have to be an old Fender with cables. Since then the steel has progressed way ahead of what they would have considered country back then. Thats the reason that Bob wells never warmed up to the pedal steel. My fathers first comment when he bought a pedal steel was "well I guess I have to learn all that jazz and pop stuff like everyone else". Back then it was "bury the pedal steel and get back to country".
