how do you the groove in pull rod for e-clip

Forget the e clips....Bobbe Seymour has a little spring thngy that replaces the e clip and doesn't require the groove. And guess what? It never comes off!

Call him and pick up a few. I have replaced all the e clips on my LeGrande III with these.
