In the late 60's I had a band (RnR) that make a record. The band was called The New Brick Window. We had RCA press the records with my record label on it. We sold a few, got some air time and such but it really didn't do well.

40 years later my second cousin says we have a cut on a compilation album of bands from New York in the 60's.

I tell the company, Gearfab records, that I hold the copyright to the song and gave them the registration number. They came back to me and said they had searched for information on it and had no luck, but would now take care of what they owe.

Yesterday I received a royalty check and a copy of the CD from them. How nice to get something after 40 years.

Good for you!

I had a high school friend that did one of those package things in Nashville where they take you money, set you up in a studio with two mics and cut an albumn in a few hours. This was 1967. Fortunatly for him the company was the Roland James Group. Someone came in and bought the entire library of these 60s garage bands and pressed them all on CD. My friend made a few bucks off it. The biggest money was from the old vinyl LPs they had left over after all these years. The last one was sold in Japan for $1000!!!

Folks collect the darndest things.

Well, the check was for $108. It was a small pressing.
I'm sending the check to one of my band mates who wrote more of the song than I did. He's had some hard times and could use the money far more than me.

I'm already retired but work some as a consultant just to keep busy.

Now if they pressed a million copies......

Ken - By passing on the check to your buddy you made a good story even better. I like your way of thinking.
