New tune,"Mood Indigo'

Post by Al Marcus »

Charles Tilley put my new song for Oct. Duke Ellington's "Mood Indigo". Thanks Tilley for your great Website where we can hear so many good Steel players of all styles now from the forum.
"Mood Indigo" has been a great old standard over the ages. I recorded that on a Video I made in 1991, and my friend Fred Welch took the audio from it, with others and put it on a CD, called it "A Few of the good old Songs."

I played it on a Sho-Bud SuperPro D10, E6 bottom neck. While spending the winter in Florida, seeing my daughter and GrandKids. ahh sweet memories...al.:):)

Fabulous work on that song Vernon...excellent steel playing and great back up music as well. I use the BIAB to make my rhythm tracks but I can't seem to get the right sound that I want to mix with my playing or it might be problems with me setting the right volume levels and timing.

Thanks Al. I listened to your song last night....sounds great. I use to own a black Sho-Bud Super Pro back about 1982 but later I sold it to a friend after I purchased a used Emmons but I didn't care much for that push-pull changer system. I'm using an MSA D-10 Classic now. My girlfriend Susan Trujillo has been learning on a D-8 non-pedal steel and the dobro. Give her song a listen when ya get time she's doing a great job. John-I just heard your girl friend's song. Susan is doing vey well for just learning. Tell her to keep up the good work.

Frank- Hi, long time no see. I just played your Oct. song, "a man and a Woman" Bossa Nova style on C6,I assume. It is very good, really nice chords, and good sound.

We have to thank Tilley for going to the trouble of getting all these songs on his Website for all members to hear.
Tilley has been helping me with a new software recording program, that he has....al.:):)

Thanks John. You are right, I was playing it on the C6th neck. I really like your version of It's a wonderful world. Nice playing.
Sounds like you were playing it on the C6th neck too. Your MSA really has a nice tone.

Thanks Joe....the C6th is correct. I am a big fan of the C6th tuning...love the style of Curly Chalker and John Hughey.

I just heard Henry Mathews very nice E9 country style tune. It was good old Country.

I also heard Joe Smith's C6 style on Danny boy. Very good and nice chords. You must have worked hard on that one. I liked it, as I do all 6th tunes, whether it is E6, A6, B6 or C6. I prefer E6 as it relates to E9 bar positions....Tilley does it again, showing all the talent on the Forum this way...al.:):)
