I caught Wayne Kemp on RFD last night. I consider myself to be one of the fortunate ones to have worked with Wayne several times in my life. Songwriter, singer, lead guitar. I miss those days, Doyle |

Yeah Doyle, I got to work with him a couple of times in 1971 in Joplin, Missouri. Still have an autographed picture of him. Great guy and great singer. I wonder who'll turn out the lights in your house tonight? _________________ Ray Qualls

I never got to acutally work with him but I have had the occasion to jam with him in the sixties at a Sunday afternoon jam he hosted in Wilmington, California at a club called "The Sundown". Wayne was the lead singer and played a flattop. He had a guy named Sammy Watson on lead guitar playing a Bigsby equipped Telecaster with a foot volume pedal who really played some great steel licks. I remember the bass player was an Indian guy but I can't remember who the drummer was. Wayne played a pretty mean lead guitar himself and worked at Georges Roundup in Long Beach in that capacity for awhile with Buddy Cagle.............JH in Va. _________________ Don't matter who's in Austin (or anywhere else) Ralph Mooney is still the king!!! |
