BMI would like to present to you Zane Wood, named after the Late Zane Beck and son of Terry Wood. We believe Terry is heading in the right. At the age of 3 Zane can chord grip and slide the bar. Don Fritche built this scaled down model for little Zane to start on and grow into.

Bob,
I know this sounds nuts but they are saying he will add 2 more fingers before age 12 and then add 2 more fingers before 16 so he should cover 14 strings

That's not all he's sawing on a fiddle too!
Really, he has a small scale 1/32 size violin, well we call them a fiddle here in the Ozark hills of MO.
THanks and lookout! He's already trying to take away my Hilton volume pedal and move it on over to his 10 stringer steel setup beside mine.

Hi Dan,
Last night, I had a drummer friend over at our house, doing some special percussion sounds on a new steel project that we are working on. Zane started trying to take over on his Djembe and congas.
He sure loves music! I hope he uses it for The Lord!
What is the Scripture in Psalms that says something about "Praising HIM on a harp with ten strings!"

Here are a couple of things that I will add about my son playing on steel.
For starting, he first asked when only 1 1/2 years old by only making sounds for me to hand him my bar and picks. He couldn't talk then but really just made sort of a grunting sound and pointed to them until I handed them to him.
Next, you might not know this but also, but my steel bar that I use weighs one pound. That's alot for a little kid to hold and slide.
Next, I special ordered his own steel bar, a Jerry Byrd Dunlop and it's on the way now.

Way to go to both boys. We need young players. When Austin started playing with the steel Jerry cut one down 6 inches. Jerry Roller gave him a hollered out bar. We added 3 inches back when he grew and then the other 3 inches. Now we have had to add an inch to the regular size. They don't stay little long!!!!!!!!!
