As much as I sincerely respect you for all the help you have provide to me, I really do feel you are off base on this. In my opinion, I consider the HSGA a “professional” organization. By this I consider it as an “institution” for the promotion and a melting pot of the instrument and the wonderful music it promotes. As an institution they certainly have a right to limit what information and or features they want to share with the general public. If you choose not to join the institution, that by all means, it is your right. But I have to go by the old political saying. “If you don’t vote you don’t have a right to gripe”. For the record, I do not belong to the HSGA but I certainly have enjoyed the content that is available.

I'm a new member and just taking all of this in... All I can say is.....
WOW!!!! sommeone (Kay) takes time to put together a very nice teaching aid and out of the 32 replies, only 1 or 2 replies are postive and express any appreciation what so ever. Hopefully this won't make folks reluctant to share in the future.
All I can say is Thanks Kay... I found your presentation very helpful and appreciate the time you invested to share this information.

All's I can say is that the HSGA is a great organization. I belong to other guitar forums too (Italy, France, the UK and Australia), all of which are very good, very informative and very enjoyable, but in my opinion the HSGA gives its members the most (and so too the SGF!). I do hope more of you will join HSGA and learn to play steel guitar and that those that already do play it take it upon themselves to develop the art form further.
We may have our differences in opinion with regard to what is free and what is not (a common Internet dilemna) but I am sure we remain all united in the love of one of the world's greatest (and least known ) instruments.
As Jerry Byrd used to say at parting, " Keep Pickin'".

Registration as an HSGA member is a "seperate entity" ...
It does not register you on the HSGA Forum, automatically.
Forum registration ... which must be done by hand (by either Gerald or myself) ... must be requested.
We had the Auto-registration feature disabled ... because of a "porn attack" (and it wasn't even good porn) 
David, I just set you up and sent you an email with the info needed to log on, etc ...

Like most of us, Ron doesn't have the resources nor professional experience that he and most of us recognize would be needed to spool up a Steel Guitar promotional initiative to it's reasonable potential. You and I have discussed that a few times in the past ourselves ...in quite similar well-intended context; 'nuf said 'bout that.
It's understandable that an occasional food-fight will pop up in the debate of potential that's about worn out here (SGF), and been going on for about 10 years or more now among most Steelers here on Oahu.
The tiff about the video equipment was probably because some were busy loading their spoons with boiled okra and didn't "notice" that Ron (with a spoon fulla spaghetti) was just reiterating a previous offer (calling someone's hand in an ongoing verbal game of 20 card stud) to go and film local Steel performances if "da kine" rounded up some gear, ....he sure didn't have the dough to go buy gear; Red beans'n rice been sellin' like hotcakes here in Hawaii for awhile, ....got some on the stove right now!
The free server gets the $10 or-so pop-up chump change that Ron's one page might produce by folks challenged enough to click on'em. Like you said, ...pop-up poop is THE nature of free hosting; and it's prevalant on many Fo'Bros websites. I'm willing to bet that Ron just got tired of not seeing a site that listed and maintained where most of the Steelers were playing on Oahu (and he's real good at keepin' up with that stuff; A freakin' database of Hawaiian Music stuff, in real time!), and surely / rightfully felt it a good and needed service deed. Another site lists where it's members play, but that's hardly providing a genuine public service; They do the same for Steel instructors and in the food fights "wonder" where the instructors are; (hmmmm, I think I'll help Ron find and post Steel instructors too). PLUS, Ron has gotten a number of deserved Thanks for his site; I sure thank him; It's the only such resource I know of; Maybe I'll get some time out of the mine-shaft here to brush off and go check out some Steelers; Darn sure that I wouldn't otherwise have a clue where they were playing in a reasonable distance in the very short notice I usually get when such rare breaks occur. Survivin' here in Hawaii ain't a piece of cake for most folks ...'specially out here in the country where the little bit of old Hawaii still exists (on Oahu anyway).

Well, actually that's the crux of what popped here. When I first saw Gerald's announcement of Kay's C6 PPP, I was quite amused (and not in a nice way) at how it was used / tauted to promote membership, big kahuna  etc. But it didn't take long to realize that was just a first impression of personality wording from a good person doing a darn good individual job; Allot better'n me and my "Mr. Roberts" personality! But Gerald and Ron have been throwing food at each other for awhile; ...look close and you can see Gerald's spoon loaded too; Rather entertaining when you look at it with that perspective. I care for both of them allot. And hey, I jumped in the middle of some of them food fights presenting allot of what you and I have discussed. Ate some crow pie too! But after having to hand-scrub stains outa a few salvation army aloha shirts and shorts, I gave up. (FYI: Spot-out and Tide-stick works pretty good  ).

Nah, no need to wait that long, c'mon over and we'll fire up a beach fire in the backyard for a few days, roast some fish, fry up some grits 'n poi; You and Ron would hit it off real good; He's good people. His BIG dark shadow stepped right up and blocked the escape route of a yard thief I cold-cocked in the middle of the night a couple weeks back (and broke my freaking pinky knuckle up side his head meaning to take his eye and nose out; Good aim lost to age and Peace, Love and ....well... ).

I want to echo some of what Denny has said about Ron. In the short time I have been part of this forum, Ron has been a source of inspiration to me. He has provided me with more help and expertise than I could have possibly have imagined. He is always quick to give me a helping hand and point me in the right direction to get the guidance I need. And while I may disagree with him in this matter, I hope we disagree as friends and fellow musicians.
Reading many of the past postings, I know a lot of you have ongoing arguments and views that will “never” be resolved and I think that is a shame. There is so much God given talent on this board, it saddens me some of you guys act like children. In regards to this matter, it is my opinion it is up to the person who creates any piece of work, be it a music arrangement, instructions, or beer making how they share there information. There creations are “proprietary” and they have the right and the obligation to determine how there creation is presented. If Larry wants to put his C6 PPP up on the Big K board, than by all means that is his right. I don’t think any one of us who is not a member (me included) of the HSGA has the right to say didly poop about it.
I write a lot of his off as internet gossip and chatter. I have seen it across a wide range of interests from this venue to motorcycles. Like most of you, I have a life outside of this forum. I am trying to balance my full time profession in supporting our soldiers, college courses, keeping the love of my life happy, and trying to learn this beautiful instrument my Father passed down to me. All of these are life long endeavors. I think I will get on with it. I hope you all do the same to.

Of course Denny T is right , and so is every one else , that is all part of the fun In a Chat Room.
This "Food Fight" as you decribe it , reminds me of that Montey Python Movie with the Knights arms cut off, blood spewing , and still battling.
I have not followed the saga of the HSGA to extent of those of you to whom it hit's home with and do appologize for any mis construded implications voiced in my entry.
As a newbie , it seemed a good oppertunity to go ahead and join as a good thing to do, Although I did have an element of, a few bucks to support an orginazition that needs support seems petty, as a motivation in my thoughts and actions.
Both Gearld's and Ron's and my own efforts as decribed by DT worked , I got caught up in the mayonase in the mouth pop(Animal House) and voiced an opinion, Joined the club, got in some crass advertizing(G Gordan L)
Looks like an all win situation.
Regarding the Lack issue, It is my sincere desire that each of us have every thing they need as much as they need for as long as they need , all divinely guided from the great spirit.
GeorgeBoards Respects: Ron's integreity, the HGSA, it's board members, THE SGF, and every one else I've forgotten to appologize to. I very much appreciate DT's clairifcation of on going insider information about Hawaiian Steel's many personal details.
Ron is welcome to add www.georgeboards.com to the new web site's list of contacts, with my best wishes that the click throughs result in a sale , hence royality check, we have affiliations all over our sites too. It is a great way to make extra coins.
