I've played these guitars and they're happening. I'd bid on this myself, but I already have more guitars than I will ever need.

??

Mike, I'm not sure if it's a good idea to publicly let folks (spouses) know that a person could possibly have more guitars than they need.

I'm pretty safe Alvin. My wife doesn't read the forum. I'm not even sure she knows that I play the steel. Whoa!

I bought a fiddle today, not that I can play it yet. 9 guitars, a keyboard, and a couple of basses are almost enough. I still want a B bender, but that will have to wait.

My wife just rolled her eyes and said, "That's nice."

I remember when Hagstrom guitars were actually built in Sweden, and the necks were made of real wood, and felt INCREDIBLE! The price is too high for this "B" stock standard Swede. Friends in the retail music business tell me they have a hard time selling these guitars. But they look cool. Sometimes, that's all that matters.

The necks of the new Hagstroms are wood, the fretboard is the phrenolic resin compound.

I have 3 guitars with fretboards made of this material. I like them. They feel really comfortable, and the sound is even throughout with no dead spots.

One of the guitars in question (a early Fernandez "lawsuit" strat with the built in sustainer) has a bolt on neck and originally came with a rosewood fretboard, and I replaced it with one of these. It was IMO a big improvement.

Hey Mike, When is to many guitars to many? I just thought I would ask so I'll know when to stop. Best to and yours, Bobby

Hi Bobby. I have about 30 now. I've lost count. Many of them freebies from Ravenwest. (It pays to have friends in high places.) I literally have around a dozen that I've only played once or twice, and never in public.

When I was gigging full time I had only one. (A Tele.) The day I played what I swore was going to be my last gig (it didn't turn out that way) I scored a second one. (A Music Man Sabre)

Then there was the NAMM show demonstrator that was too good a guitar at too good a price to turn down. Then there was a second one a year later. (There's at least one every year.) Then there was the incredible find at a garage sale. Then....

Now they're all in my music room in the basement. I think they're breeding down there.
