6 string or 8 string?

This is one of those fun threads that everyone can comment on. I may sound hard core as far as my opinions go but not really. If I felt a need to go to seven or eight strings I would do it. To be redundant it's just what you play that determines the amount of strings you want to use. In fact I can't see any need for eight strings for me at the present but I can think of a couple of tunings that seven might be nice. :)

I play in open G a E tunings on a D6 Fender. I have been learning the Don Helms E6 tuning on a single 6. I've recently purchased a D8 Fender and just by adding a B and E on the bottom 2 strings of the E6 neck I can have all three tunings on one guitar. The string spacing does take some getting used to though....
