Hey everybody. I played an Emmons D10 P/P for 12 years and sadly had to sell it.

I am looking at purchasing a two year old Fessenden D10 and have ZERO experience with those guitars.

Is it a well-engineered quality piece that I'll be happy with?

I have to make a purchase decision soon, so any comments you'd care to share would be most appreciated.

Thanks!

Jon,

I had a Fessy S/D U-12 for a while until I decided it was more guitar than I needed.

I thought the Fessy was well engineered, and the workmaship great on it. The undercarriage was easy to work on [if I can do it anyone can].

I can't speak for the wieght of a D-10, but the S/D U-12 seemed pretty heavy to me, but not unbearable.

Overall I liked the guitar really well, but a U-12 8 & 6 was just more guitar than I could handle.

I have a '99 blue mica D10 Fessenden, and it is a great guitar. It plays really easy, stays in tune well, and sounds great. If you would need any parts etc, you couldn't find a nicer guy to work with than Jerry Fessenden. This is the only mica guitar I have, so I mostly use it when I play away from my regular church gig. I've played it outside in the cold, and in the hot sun, and had no problems.

I also have a '74 lacquer P/P, with wood necks, and a showroom condition Sho-Bud Super Pro.

I have a late 90's D-10 that I've been playing for six years or so, and it is a fantastic guitar. I also have a newer SD-10 which I am very happy with. The only issue I've ever had with either guitar is the cross-shafts binding, and that has happened to other makes of guitars I've had as well and is really easy to fix if it ever does. I have a lot of confidence in both guitars, I find them comfortable and with 710's in them I am really pleased with the sound. Jerry Fessenden is always more than willing to help out with any questions or issues.

Hey JB!!!! You are still alive. Very Happy I don't have any experience with the Fessy's either, but I have not heard anything bad about them. I was talking to a well known player on the circuit one time and he said "I don't think there are any poor guitars made anymore" Get back on it dude. Hope to see you again soon. OBTW- Western Justice is at Riverside Casino Sunday from 2-5 . Come see us!

I've owned 3 of 'em and recommend them highly. All of my CDs are cut on them.

Well sir, I can give a first hand opinion on my Fessy. Right now my personal guitar is a D-10 royal blue mica Fessy, 8 & 5. E9th neck has a 10-1 and C6th I'm using a E66. One thing I've noticed with the Fessy's I've had and sold is that a player has to personalize the guitar once they get it. That's with any brand though. Some take less time to do and others require more. The Carters I've had along with the Magnum's seem to take less time to personalize. This particular Fessy I have now also has the TOMMY YOUNG MOD installed on both necks. I move things around it whenever I see something that'll give me more to work with, as far as different changes go. I'd put the Fessy's up against any brand out there without thinking twice about it. Jerry Fessenden is also a super guy to deal with. He's probably forgot more about PSG than a lot of us will ever learn. Most guitar builders today are putting out good guitars, it just depends on what a player can afford or actually wants.
