Mine (walnut) cost $59,600 less. Bought in Bakersfield ca. 1995. OHSC.

I wonder if Noel's was serial-numbered (T-1 or T-101 or...?). Mine's T-11# (Roman-numeral fretboard; no Fender decal on front; no employee penciled initials/dates; pots replaced so no specific date clues.)

(And what does it mean that the palindrome of Noel is Leon?)

If someone was to pay that much for Noel's triple neck Fender Custom then wouldn't that make his '47 Bigsby triple neck worth asking 10 times more than the Fender? And before you laugh at or flame me for that comment consider that a Fender Custom brings about $1200 and a original Bigsby now brings $12,000-and that is the lowest figure paid for a Bigsby in the last half dozen sales of them that I am aware have transpired in the last year or so-Add another zero to the end-If nobody is buying Bud's Bigsby for that same asking price or Joaquin's for $75,000 who would shell out that much for the Fender? Not even when I win the lotto

It's a shame that 1950's steels are so affordable in general.
A friend of mine has a Fender Nocaster/Tele that once belonged to Jimmie,then Stevie Ray Vaugn. I'll have it on display at the Oct.6th LA AMP SHOW, and then it will be on display at the Arlington Vintage show the end of Oct. in Norman Harris's booth. It is for sale at that show. How much do you think that will bring?
Bear in mind that the inflated vintage market has fallen off it's rediculous high of last year because off the general state of the economy. I'm banking on it fetching offers upwards of $800,000. Here's a pic.

It's a museum piece alright. Someone with big bucks may grab it, but if it winds up in a private collection, the public will never get to see and enjoy and remember who Noel was.

Noel lived in my old neighborhood of Downey, a suburb of LA, as did Marian Hall, and of course Paul Bigsby. They had good taste!
Downey was 2nd only to Beverly Hills for per capita income. Karen and Richard Carpenter also had a mini mansion there.

This guitar appeared in many famous movie soundtracks creating unique and wonderful effects such as the ray-gun sound in the movie "War of the Worlds".

I sure would like to know how that was done. I don't recall thinking it was made with any kind of guitar.

Exactly. Hey, I have a pic showing Noel playing my (brand new at the time) Custom T-8. I'll gladly accept any offer of $59,999.99 for this guitar if anyone will bite. It's still in great condition.

Drew, whatever your point was there, I doubt you've ever even drivin thru, let alone know how VERY cool that whole SE area of LA was in the 50/60/70s.

The only way those day's could have been better, would be if living a dbl. life was possible, in order to be there AND in Hawaii after the war, where I've been since '75.
