Choice of musicians on WC Edgar CD

Post by Jerry Fessenden »

I have been listening to the W C Edgar CD and come to this conclusion. THe choice of players was as good as it gets. Mike Johnson is so good on all his recordings, but here W C turns him loose . The vocals were perfect on this project , and the players all got to play at their best ...Anyone who wants to see how a CD should be done may want to get this from W C . www.wcedgar.com

Amen to all that Jerry said! There is so little country music done today that I can take, thids is different, this reminds me of the first time I heard Alan Jacksons first CD, a real breath of fresh air. You really need to hear this, not over produced, great mastering, real balance, I love it, Mike Johnson is a master.

Very nice! Thanks for the link Jerry.
The man can sing & write for sure.
I just hope he is not too hardcore country
for Nashville.Great songs & GREAT music.
I love his slogan on his home page!!
Thanks Ron

I was impressed by Mike's steel guitar & how he works with the vocals , but before a guy sings, the songs must be right ! W C writes some great songs . The guitar was done by Danny Parks . When you mix musicians of this caliber with a guy that writes and sings so well, then it's a hit whether Nashville likes it or not. I listen several times a day. Now to cop some of the steel and guitar licks...Someone else will have to do the fiddle. JF

I also just heard W.C. Edgar's cd he did an awsome job on it. The lead guitars was really smooth along with Mike Johnson on steel, he does a fantastic job! The whole cd sounds great!

I heard that CD a few days ago. I thought the music was great, especially the steel. The steel guitar should have been a lot louder in the mix. :)

Just as a sidenote; WC is not only a good vocalist, but he wields a mean steel guitar too.

Jerry, I haven't been able to get to the wcedgar website yet. I'm having a problem loading the page. However, I have been to his website in the past and in my mind he is a great singer. I will get to the site as soon as I can cause I would like to hear the new CD.

Danny, the steel is great and a treat on its own, bringing it up in the mix would be nice for us steelers, but for a recording for everyone to enjoy I wouldn't touch the mix a bit, they nailed in my opinion

I agree with Jerry as I have heard this CD recently. It's top notch. If you like country, this is hard to beat. Take the plunge and buy this CD. Remember that WC started his career as one of us crazy pedal steel guys. Let's try to help back him and spread the word. We need more quality like this around these days.

It's a great CD!!! I got an advanced copy. "Vegas" is probably my favorite song. This is not the same old crap, it's well thought out songs and WC definately has an opinion on what he's singing about. It's obvious that WC called the shots on the arrangements as I feel he knows how a song should be put together. ( honkytonk1@wcedgar.com )I believe this is his current email....

Kurt, you said what I wanted to say...arrangements are so good . Great to hear what a guy can write, sing & work out the project , choosing such fine players. These guys know how to interact . JF
