ISGC - Thanks from Derby Steel Guitars

Post by Jaynette Mondie »

We at Derby Steel would like to thank everyone for another successful show in St. Louis. Special thanks to Ron Elliott, Lynn Owsley, Billy Robinson, Rusty Rhodes, Elizabeth West, Scott Henderson, the great Bud Issaac and his lovely wife Geri, Buck Grantham, Donna Darlene & Schotsie, Amber, Red Kilby, Mike Siler, Dottie Jack and her niece Jade, Russ Hicks, Rodney Crisp, and Wichita. There were so many great singers, pickers, and drummers it's hard to remember all their names but we appreciated all of them for coming in the Derby room. A special thanks to Bob Calloway, Tom, Steve, Judy, Chet & Fay - without them it just wouldn't have been the same! See you next year - Charlie & Margit

I too want to thank every one at Derby for allowing me to play the Derby Room this year. I played about 6 hrs Friday nite and over 7 Saturday.Got to play with some of the best pickers anywhere. At one point I had Lynn Owsley on one side and Scotty Henderson on the other. It dosen't get any better.I've tried to post some pic's but can't get them to load.

I spent quite a few hours on bass in the Derby room this year. I got to back up some fine pickers and singers. The hilite was backing up Bud and Jeri with Ron Elliot on steel. What a moment for me. And Mike Siler. What a job this guy does singing. I could play and listen to him all night! I think I did! And my girl Jessie had a great time singing in the Derby room also. Can't wait till next year.

Chris, I was great playing with you.
Danny it was also great meeting you folks and being able to intertain you. I had so much trouble with ground noise I couldn't use my Tele so played acoustic most of the time.I had a ball getting to play with my friends Scotty Henderson, Bo Chulupec and Tommy Miller. We have did several shows together.
Also Jimmy and Starla Queen. Jimmy, Starla and Scotty are part of the Jazzabilly band. Any way lets do it again next year.

The Derby room is the reason I go to St. Louis! Charlie and Margit your friendship is truly appreciated. Getting to play guitar behind some of the best steel players in the world has been the greatest experience for me. Thank you for that and thank you for building me a great steel guitar. See you all next year.
