I like old cars-Model A's, shoeboxes, musclecars, lead sleds, etc. I currently own a 1966 Ford Mustang, and a 1968 Cadillac Coupe deVille that's been in the shop for 5 months Crying or Very sad , not because it's that tough of a problem to fix but because I needed a place to park it! The Mustang is technically my wife's, but she's sorta lost interest in it...I'm trying to sow the seeds to sell it and get a '69 Chevelle...

I like fixing old, broken stuff, like old guitar amps/effects. I'm currently working on trying to stop my Echoplex from buzzing. Mad

Hap, and Daniel Eaton might enjoy this.
I like the old west history. Plains indian culture, and the Little Bighorn battle especially. While living in New Mexico, I apprenticed under Cathy Smith,(Santa Fe) who did all the main character costumes for "Dances with wolves", and "Son of the Morning Star" (tv)
Here is a quilled warshirt I did a couple of years ago on my first two brain tanned deer hides.
The scalp locks, are real human hair.

Some knife sheaths

Some contemporary bead work ( I did about 7 pairs of shoes for Williams & Ree)

Writing! I have written a book about the Eighth Wisconsin Infantry Regiment and their eagle mascot, Old Abe, during the Civil War. It is presently at the publisher and will be released in time for Christmas. The title: WINGS OVER VICKSBURG.

Dale like you I used to do a little bead work and remember making a nice Native American style guitar piece for Hank Jr and had sewn the beadwork to a top quaility leather guitar strap. It had HANK on one side the back BOCEPHUS on the front. This was back in about 1981 when the Carelton Celebrity was still going in Bloomington, MN. I could never get Hank's attention and was right up front so I half tossed it up on the stage and it was quickly scooped up by roadies or stage mngr. Never heard anything else about it as I had my name on back in small letters but only pictures of it Sad
Dick I too spent my career in law enforcement however wanted to fly for a living having gone thru ground school twice & never the $$ to continue on. I get more than enough time on the range for dept shoots so seldom go out shooting for fun anymore although I still have a few guns left.
Pheasant hunting, fishing I enjoy but don't get to go as often as I'd like. Used to fly the radio control planes for a number of years then started collecting more instruments & gear.
Oh, after all this time I decided to finish my BS...should only take me a year then my wife promsied me another Harley Razz not sure where she's gettin' the dough Shocked
Still enjoy family time, church on Sunday morning' playing & listening to bluegrass, old country and just great music!
That could be the start of a song

My wife and I road race cars (Laguna Seca, Sears Point that sort of venue.) Presently we are owned by a 1974 Porsche 911 RSR (fake, but fast), and a 95 Carrera Cup 911. I have occasionally rented a seat in a Formula Atlantic and Formula Mazda at venues like Road America and Watkins Glen.

We also love traveling to locations worldwide to Scuba. I recently was certified on TriMix gases and did a 350 ft deep dive in Truk on one of the 60 or so Japanese ships sunk there during WWII.

I am also an SAG actor doing mostly voice overs and improve stuff here in the Bay Area.

I also play bass in a New Orleans flavored adventure that is really more hobby than my steel playing....gotta love those Funky Meters.

What else did I leave out....tennis, skiing....man, life is too much fun!!!!!!

I like target shooting, nothing competitive, just targets in the barnyard. Ruger Redhawk, 357 mag.

And with the barnyard comes the barn in which I have 2 horses, both retired except for when the grandaughter is here.

I also am raising muscadine and scuppernong grapes, which I use to make homemade wine. Usually make around 50 gallons each year, give the vast majority to friends. Got started on this due to my heart doc telling me to drink a glass of wine each night. Never liked wine till I started making my own. Found out that the wine making itself is a very relaxing hobby, so I end up making WAY more than I need.

My hobbies seem to revolve around fishing, both bass fishing here in CenTex in my Skeeter, and going down to the TX coast for inshore speckled trout and redfish.

I've been an antique lure collector in the past, and still have lots of old lures, reels, rods, etc. though I haven't been buying much in the last few years, unless I find bargains somewhere.

I also dabble in assembling and wrapping freshwater rods, and still have about half a dozen Loomis and All-Star blanks I need to finish.

For me its flight instructing in light single and twin engine airplanes...then scuba diving. I collect older computers and refurbish/rebuild them, then give them to either charity organizations or needy kids.

I moved my hobby of genealogy and family history into the professional realm when I recently became certified as a professional genealogist through the Board for Certification of Genealogists (BCG).

Genealogy is one of the fastest growing hobbies in the world, which can be largely attributed to the Internet and the ability to easily communicate world-wide.

On a nice day I would just as soon be flying my 1946 Taylorcraft BC-12D. Just hand prop it and go,no gps,no radio, no electrical system ,like it's been for over 60 years. Just fun. I also enjoy RC airplanes from small electrics to giant scale gas models. I also like to tinker with and rebuild steels. My love for airplanes and steel guitar go back as far as I can remember. My mom and dad both played non pedal steel.

At times, I've been heavily into cars, photography, shooting, radio, sci-fi, old movies, Titanica, meterology and climatology, and ancient engineering (as well as re-engineering most of the new stuff I buy). Lately, I've been collecting art-deco pieces, reading a lot, and I've also found inspiration in very simple things; like watching dry leaves hop-scotching down the sidewalks, watching puffy raw-cotton clouds playing tag across the evening sky, or just enjoying the gentle breezes and the many scents they bring me each day.

Once in awhile, I even play some steel! Wink

I enjoy prospecting for gold, be it hard rock floats or working creeks for placer. I live minutes from the Superstition Mountains and in my free time hike all over the range looking for the Lost Dutchman mine. One day I hope to find enough to plate my steel guitar with it.

Saddle repair, custom leather work, old fashioned traditional leather carving, and I'm Worshipful Master of my Masonic lodge this year so not much time to practice and learn the mysteries of the psg or put a holster together. Psg and leather working are very good therpy for me, each person need something to help them relax. Going to church is also relaxing. I was an engineer on the SP/UP for 32 years and couldn't attend church like I wanted, but now I can and do....jr
