Blood On The Tracks

Post by Jeremy Threlfall »

not being a big Dylan fan (duck and cover), I went and got a copy of Blood on the Tracks for a fresh dose of my favourite Mr Cage's excellent playing.

Not very high in the mix. Does anyone know what he was playing? - he is credited with "Steel Guitar" in the liner notes, but I couldn't hear much of anything outstanding.

Perhaps my hearing has gone. :(

Apparently he plays on "meet me in the morning"

I'll have to listen to the album again.

Perhaps like he didn't play on every track, just one or two.

yeah, just that one tune.
not exactly the classic Buddy Cage NRPS sound, is it? but that is one fine album.

have you heard the Great Speckled Bird album by Ian & Sylvia with Buddy and Amos Garrett? it's tough to beat.

They are the greatest combination, those two, and I like Ian & Sylvia too. I've enjoyed the Ian and Sylvia Nashville album for years. I love the GSB - Disappearing Woman is fantastic. Its what finally pushed me over the edge to try pedal steel. NRPS are a bit naff for me, but - hey - Panama Red is top steelin'.

I'll have to try some Anne Murray albums.

This album was done in 2 session NYC and Minnesota. I think Buddy played at the the NYC sessions, you can find a bootleg of this session called Blood on the Tapes. Buddy plays on You're a Big Girls Now in this session.

thanks for the info guys - I don't feel like my ears have failed me now.

Can anyone recommend an Anne Murray album that has particularly good Buddy on it?
