Just wanted to say howdy and thank everyone for all the valuable info/experiences that you share.
I just recently retired and got a Carter Starter about a week ago. Always loved the sound of a steel and plan on making it a priority hobby now that I have the time. Help keep me out of trouble... Very Happy
Waiting on my Winnie Winston book to get here. Having fun with the guitar just making noise and now I want to get it to make something resembling music.
Laughing
Anyone living in the Ft. Lauderdale area that gives lessons or you know of anyone please give me a shout...

Scott

Thanks Jack,
Thank you for the welcome and link. It is a far piece from here, however I will be camping in that area this fall and definitely will make it a point to attend one or more sessions. Smile

Hey Scott: Welcome to the forum, I also have been looking for a teacher in this area with no luck, I did however have just one lesson from Neil Flanz some time back just before he moved to Texas, if you find a teacher please let me know.
Good luck with your new venture.
Regards, Bill Waskiewicz, Deerfield Beach, Fl

Scott,
Welcome from a fairly new psg player in Illinois, who is having about more fun than ought to be allowed in learning to find my way around this beautiful sounding instrument. You'll find that this Forum will be a big help to you. Steelers are always willing to answer questions and they give us newbies lots of encouragement.

Hi Scott: You had your Winnei Winston book for a few days now and I was wondering how you were making out, do you have the book and the Carter under control?
With this long weekend you should get up to page 29 Red River Valley and not spending time reading this message.
Regards, Bill W. Smile

Scott, sorry I can't help with finding a teacher, but welcome aboard, anyway. There are several good steelers in the State of Fl but don't know just where they all are. Keep watching the Posts on here and you may spot one being from a town near you.
