Telonics 12 String Pickup for Carter Steel Guitar $175 SOLD

I have a Telonics 12 String Pickup for a Carter Steel Guitar that is in brand new condition and has never been used. I bought the pickup a while back, but ended up selling the guitar before I had a chance to install the pickup! It is pickup model 427PWC (the one with all poles adjustable), and all o...

I use a 10 string lap steel (tuned to standard E9 pedal steel tuning) and love it! I have an 8 string resonator, but miss my low D and high D# strings. Hoping to get my hands on a 10 string dobro to replicate the tuning of my lap steel.

It's solid black. The marble look is just the light reflecting. I take really good care of my steel guitars, and this one was freshly polished, oiled, and restrung prior to these pics being taken! It's a pretty one for sure, and hey, it's everyone's favorite color... black! :D On the subject of 12 s...

Carter U-12 (S-12) Universal 7+5 with flight case for sale!!

I bought this guitar new in 2010 from Al Brisco at Steel Guitars of Canada. It comes with an ATA flight case (the kind with wheels built in)! It's a really great sounding and great playing instrument, and light too! This guitar has served me really really well, and I hate to let it go, but I'm more ...

WTB: S10 (lacquer)

I'm looking to get a high quality all pull s10 (not sd10) with a lacquer finish... Show Pro, Fulawka, and Williams would be examples. Looking for emmons set up (E raises and lowers on the left knee, etc.) 4 pedals and 5 knee levers preferred, but would consider other options. Thanks, Dan

Sarno Black Box vs Freeloader

Hello. I am interested in getting either a Freeloader or Black Box. I am running my steel guitar into a 1968 Twin Reverb with a d130. Since I am already getting the benefits of my twin's 12ax7 (and other tubes), is it safe to assume that the freeloader would suit my needs? I really like how compact ...

Thanks! I tried Nicholai Steindler the other day, but he's moving his shop and is out of bars. There is some stock out there, but not in the size I need. Lapdancer is "out of stock until further notice". I'll drop a line to Larry Brebes. Hopefully he can set me up. Thanks for the tips ever...

Thanks!

Wow. That was great. I'm only familiar with the version from Merl's 1965 album "Strangers". That one has a way different feel (and no steel guitar). Loving this version... thanks for posting it!

A great guy to talk to would be Tom Jones over at TV Jones Pickups. (tvjones.com) He makes an amazing reproduction Filtertron pickup and has a whole line of pickups inspired by those classic designs. Gretsch actually uses his pickups in some of their top of the line models. I put a pair in my vintag...

For what it's worth, I have one of these and looooove it. Full, warm tone and killer sustain. I got mine through a trade, but $900 to $950 sounds about right.

I agree that it comes down to focused time spent at the instrument. The problem is, sometimes we don't know where to start, or how to fill that time. That's where having some sort of program is really helpful. For me, The Right Hand Alpha has been invaluable! There are so many approaches, and in my ...

Anybody have any favorite youtube links that feature Hal Rugg? I saw the one of him backing George and Tammy on the song "Milwaukee Here I Come" and loved it. ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0pQObXNIQvo ) I think my steel playing would benefit from seeing more. Share em' if you got em'!!!

Lately, I've been using a 1966 Fender Pro Reverb. It's 40 watts (2 x 6L6). If you feel like a Twin is too powerful, the Pro is a great alternative as it's about half the power, but still has 2 x 12" speakers. Double the power of a Deluxe though. I would looooooooove to try a vintage Fender Vibr...

Who is this steel player???

Can anybody tell me who the steel player is in this video? Some really hot playing! I'm sure he's a legend who's face/sound I should instantly recognize, but I'm kinda new to all this. Thanks.

I watched Ben Keith from the side-stage at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival a couple of years ago. His steel indeed had 3 pedals and one lever. His amp was a fender siverface deluxe reverb. Perhaps the most intriguing thing was his chair - a short beat up old metal folding chair!
