stealth 8

I bought a stealth last summer, and George was great to work with, delivered everything as promised, on time. The instrument is beautiful and sounds and plays great! Bill

I would guess that the training program is standard for all volunteers. Hospice has a very important mission in serving those who are dying, and their families and friends. There are also federal and state regulations that they must follow. They want to know that volunteers know what they are gettin...

I agree with Dennis that hospice is different from care centers and hospitals. We need to pay attention to the family and staff suggestions, more than our own preferences. quiet instruments seem to work well.

I play in nursing homes regularly, and have played many times in hospice. At a hospice, sometimes I have played in a hallway or commonroom, as much for family and staff as for the patients. If invited to visit a particular patient I would check with the staff and family to see if it is an appropriat...

I'm starting to work with my Ultrasound amp, which has vocal, instrument, and RCA inputs for a CD player. I have made WAV. files from Band in a Box. I should be able to balance them out. I am also concerned about lugging gear around, so I'll see how this works for gigs in September.

Thanks! I guess the more general question is: do people use acoustic amps for steel? Acoustic amps are solid state, like the peaveys and evans. I prefer tube amps for electric guitar, but they don't usually work for vocals, and for my gigs in care centers, I don't want to haul a lot of gear. Ideas?

Ultrasound Amps for non-pedal steel

I have begun to use my Ultrasound DS4 as I add steel to my performances. I just got my Georgeboards Stealth #009! I can plug in a CD player for BIAB tracks, along with vocals. Has anyone used an ultrasound? Any suggestions for the effects and tone settings?

Tabs

I agree that tabs are a good way to get started on an instrument or new song. But the problem is that it is so limited, and a we won't learn how the song is constructed and gain the tools so that we can play any song. Scales, especially the relative major and minor pentatonic scales offer a great wa...

Music and the Brain

I have done a lot of study of these topics, and teach a class called Music and Healing. ANother book I have enjoyed is "The Singing Neaderthals" by Stephen Mithin. (My next band will be called The Singing Neaderthals!)Mithin believes that Steven Pinker at Harvard (my alma mater!) is wrong ...
