So sad :( My deepest condolences. He was a super nice guy and so talented, and we had some interesting conversations about motorcycles as well as steel guitars.

You might want to consider getting your steel lowered-- this involves someone shortening the legs and pedal rods. Forum member Chris Allen Burke did a great job on mine (previous owner was 6'5", i'm 5'7"). He's in Long Beach CA, which is not real far from you.

I haven't had one of the tricones but i've bought two instruments directly from Republic (one a metal body "duolian" and the other a wood single-cone squareneck) and they are just so sweet. I'd strongly encourage you to contact the owner, Frank, at the contact info posted on republicguitar...

WTT: my EH bass micro synth for your volume pedal

I have an Electro-Harmonix Bass Micro Synthesizer pedal (with power cord, wooden case, and probably manual) , works great-- pretty versatile but not for everyone. Might be real useful if you plan on doing a PSG interpretation of the Flash Gordon soundtrack or if you've got a Karlheinz Stockhausen ob...

Aw man i'm with ya! And i guarantee you're loads better at PSG than i am. Been learning since Feb of this year but don't have much free time. Mostly find myself practicing in the middle of the night. It's a little bit frustrating-- certainly humbling, so ridiculously humbling-- to go from an instrum...

OK, so the young kids are not so bad. But what about that horrible stuff they call music? I don't have a comeback for that one ;) I will say though that the Ubuntu Community Manager plays in a somewhat alarming heavy metal band, and that the Chief Architect of the OpenLDAP project rocks some wicked...

I sure wouldn't say that "nobody is stepping in" or even that the project leaders are all old... It's a pretty lively scene! As all meritocracies should be ;) Another cool thing, as OSS becomes more and more ubiquitous, is that more and more commercial companies are stepping in to fund dev...

My pain is a lot more localized than that of your girlfriend, from left elbow down to almost mid-palm. When it gets bad i wrap my forearm in a real hot towel and take a couple advil for the swelling... then a tight ace bandage later. This has always helped a lot. I've been very fortunate in that it ...
