There is no loss of volume with the addition of the 7th string as some of you might be worried about. I have it tuned D-B-G-E-D-B-G, hi to low.
Thanks, Miles

No sound from my Fender Champ

Hi, I just got a '59 Fender Champ lap steel. Before changing the strings I looked under the plate to look at the pickup and wiring. Everything looked original and good. But once I got the new strings on and plugged it into my amp I don't get any sound at all. I checked my amp and cable with another ...

I have a '59 Fender Champ lap steel that needs a bridge cover. Would any of you happen to have one for sale or know someone who does?

Thanks,

lap steel cleaning

Hi, I would like to know what is best to use to clean an instrument. I just picked up a Fender Champ lap steel and I'd like to clean it before putting a new set of strings on. So what should I use for the painted body and for the chrome plate? Also, should I stay clear of the Fender decal? I don't w...

Well,
Judging from the lack of comments I guess I am in the minority on this subject.Enough said. I'll keep my thoughts to myself until someone else brings it up again. Thanks for those that cared enough to comment.

I don't know if this has been asked before because I'm not "on" as much as some of you. But I've been thinking for a while that since there is a separate section for "Pedal Steel" and "Steel Without Pedals" it sure would be nice to have a "For Sale: Pedal Steels&qu...

lap steel fretboard

Do any of you have any experience using the lap steel fretboards being sold on Ebay? I'm thinking of building my own lap steel and would like your opinion if you have one.

Thanks,

Oahu Lap Steel & Amp

Hi, Would any of you know how I can identify the year this lap steel was made? It has a number stamped into the head: 321-0. The amp has the same number stamped in ink on a caution label in the back. Also, would anyone be interested in buying something like this if I were sell it? The lap steel and ...

practice amps

There was a question a couple days ago about what kind of "bedroom" practice amp some of you might use. There was a few choices given: Vox DA5, Roland Micro Cube & Fender Mustang I. My question is what effects other than reverb would a steel player use? I suppose it would matter what k...

C6 High Tuning

Hello All, I'm a fairly new member here and would like to ask a question that has probably been asked before but here it goes. I'm guessing from reading other posts that the C6 tuning is very popular with non-pedal players. But I don't see much on the High C6 tuning, with the G on the 1st string. I ...

Mitch, Your Asher is really nice. And if I was sure I was going to get a Weiss I would take you up on your offer to play yours. But I have made up my mind to get another reso that I'll tune to C6 or G6. Just by reading all the info on the Weissenborn's I have come to the conclusion that the tuning I...
