From the audience, Sneaky's steel sounded huge. On mellow tunes, you could almost hear Jimmy Day.

I have several old ones, but end up using the 1950 chrome Ric 6-string most because its tone is the most full and musical. It gets early Don Helms sound too. But with the chrome, I get distracted by my reflection.

Me too, played slide for decades, then got a 6 string lap, then got another 6 string, then got a couple 8 strings, cuz one was for Dickie Harris sounds and another for old Don Helms stuff, and then I had to get a pedal steel and soon more pedal steels to cover different sounds I liked. So get ready ...

Me too! . . I proudly own a '52 blond Deluxe-8 C6, and a '50 walnut Deluxe-8 E13, both like new. Got them cuz they're similar to Dickie Harris's Triple, I tote 'em around so got singles. Also love the way they look, never tried a Stringmaster. I very much want a lesson from Dickie Harris, a very mus...

Dobro guitars, what years were best?

I've heard that newer ones aren't as good as the old ones. Anyone know where the cutoff date is for a real good one?

Cindy Cashdollar has a neat one. Unlike her steel guitar videos, she is a natural on Dobro.

Today's producers lack taste, that cheap thumpy kick drum has to go. They, along with the run-of-the-mill players, and the radio programmers don't even belong in the music business.

It would have to be a (US Custom-shop) built Bigsby to be right, as is the case with the other Gretsch models.

I think six is better, nicer spacing, less bar friction, and you can still play all the tunes.

Seeing Hank Snow with that yellow suit singin' "Movin' On" changed me. A totally unique vocal style and his guitar pickin' is cool too.

Wow, maybe we'll have to pull out some nice old analog machines to record on. Then everyone would have to actually sing a song almost all the way through (like Patsy Cline did).

Dickie Harris played one of those and made it sound like there was a small orchestra backing Earnest Tubb. Of course, Billy Byrd was a big part of it too. I've never heard a more musical couple guys anywhere.
