That is beautiful, Joe! Your tone is wonderful and the steel parts were just right and added a lot to the song. Very nice!

Innovative, utterly original and OUTSTANDING.

I agree, Alan! Nesmith with Red Rhodes. I still listen to them A LOT. My fave albums are Magnetic South and Loose Salute.

I saw Mike Nesmith's First National Band Redux last night in Kent, Ohio. Wonderful show, and Pete Finney is brilliant, doing a beautiful job of stepping into the shoes of the great Red Rhodes. Nesmith tells some really funny stories. I think I may try that peanut butter thing ...it sure seemed to wo...

Thanks, guys! Most of the instruments were samples and it was put together on a Mac. I think the only "real" instrument on there was my pedal steel, (and of course Mike's vocals). Computers will never take the place of live musicians, but they sure do open up a world of creative possibilit...

And now for something completely different...

I'm a big fan of B.J.Cole and I especially love the album he recorded with Luke Vibert called Stop The Panic. I guess you could say this original piece was inspired by that album. Vocals by my husband Mike Hilliard and pedal steel by myself. Hope you enjoy. :-)

Nice stuff. I'd love to hear a double bass there sliding around in the background too. Do you put out all the props for just one miner's song or do you do a whole bunch of them? Thank you, Chris. Yes, a double bass would be great! We may add a bass player in the future if we find just the right one...

The effect he was using on his guitar is an Electro-harmonix "Pitch Fork" pitch shifter that was set to play the note he was playing plus one octave below, giving it a bass sound.

. Thanks, John! It sounds like there's a bass, doesn't it? Nope, that's the electric guitar. No tracks, etc., what you hear is exactly what you see. :)
