Thanks for the replies, and the link! It's definitely the female end of the bellcrank, and it's completely separated. Hopefully this new one will take care of it.

Stripped Emmons Bellcrank

Hey guys- Unfortunately, it looks like the threading on one of the bellcranks on my early 70's Emmons PP is stripped and the set screw won't hold on to the cross-shaft for my RKL, G# -> F# lower. Similar to the issue described here: http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=304396&highlight...

Lynn, I was clicking through both yours and Mr Knowles sites just the other day, admiring your guitars.

I'm working on a deal right now, but if that doesn't work I'll reach out to Mr Matrakos.

Thanks!

Looking for something that plays well, preferably in black or rosewood. Will pay extra for TONE TO THE BONE.

Rick built me a sweet combo cab for my '74 Twin with a removeable baffle for a 15" Altec. Sounds fantastic, and the wood is significantly lighter than the original cab. Awesome guy to deal with too.

Another vote for the TAD 6L6WGC-STR power tubes. 12ax7 and 12at7 RCA short grey plates are my go-to for preamps. They're consistent, not terribly expensive in the NOS/ANOS market, and they last forever. I've tried some long plate sylvanias, GE, telefunken in V1/V2 and V4 that were a little bit fatte...

The E66 can be closer to the strings than eg a BL 710. Probably because of the plastic casing. So 3.5 mm should be enough. I would't change it to a BL710, that pu was designed for a pot pedal and you use a Hilton. The Telonics pickups are designed for active pedals, so that might be a good choice. ...

Thanks for all the replies. You guys never disappoint. Per Lane's suggestion, I took another look at the pickup height. I've got it lowered as far as it can go, but that's still only 3.5mm (two quarters). It's kinda hard to see in the pic, but there are two little bolted on pieces on both sides that...

Pickup Recommendations?

Hi Guys- I'm having some pretty persistent trouble dialing in my treble settings and I'm hoping that maybe a pickup change might help. Here's my signal chain: La Garritt/Rittenberry E9, SD-10 George L E-66 Hilton VP Strymon Big Sky Strymon El Capistan Fender Twin (SF '74) - Approx Settings: T 3.25, ...

Re: Tubes for Twin

Maybe it's the speaker(Telonics neo 15inch) the blackface Twin gets plenty loud enough but it doesn't stay clean. Someone once said that plugging into the attenuated 2nd channel is the same as changing to an AY or AU. Should I unplug the V1 because I don't need the normal channel? Would this help t...

Altec 418B

The Altec 418B is a fantastic speaker, similar to the JBL D- and K-130's. As a bonus, they are usually a little cheaper, and if needed they can be reconed with OEM kits by Plains Audio.

This one is listed for $125:

Love my PR + k110! It really is excellent for quiet stages and recording. For fun/experimentation, I had mine converted to cathode bias and disabled the tremolo so I could use one of the knobs as a mid control. It is not clean past 7 any more, but from 4-6 on the volume is really nice. I'm sure I'll...

From another "Small Fender Amp" thread: I have a 69-70 Silverface Princeton NR that I use with a JBL K-110 for folk, americana and church gigs as well as almost every recording session I do. It really is clean almost all the way to the top, and even more so with RCA 12ax7 short plates from...

Re: Spkr

What ohm speaker are you using for your extension speaker with your Princeton amp? I have an 8 ohm spkr that I use with my Deluxe Reverb. Geo Same here. I don't notice the loss of power/volume with the mismatch. But I'm going for the bass/fullness and not as concerned with having a little extra sus...

Thanks Brett! Do you still need an active DI with the BB? I was thinking he could use a less expensive, passive DI in this scenario.

Black Box Users w/ Acoustic 6-string...any pickup recs?

I've got a 6-string bandmate that is considering using a black box + pickup for acoustic @ stage volume. Any thoughts or recommendations on an acoustic pickup that works well with the SGBB? The alternative is the Baggs MI into the Baggs DI. Budget is $400. I'm secretly hoping it makes sense for him ...

Thanks Chris. If there's one thing that I've learned over the last 5-6 years, it's that there are no shortcuts to becoming a good steel player. I've got the fever, and the only prescription is deliberate practice. Lots of it.
