Thanks Bill...actually got a few PMs stating the same thing...I think it's better to focus on the playing right now...I've completely taught myself to play so far, and been thinking instruction route is needed at some point...really need to work on my blocking, runs, and turnarounds...missing those ...

New PSG or Sarno/Furlong Combo

So, been tickling to change some things up recently. I've been playing my GFI expo for about 9 months now, though not as often as I would like, I've been getting progressively better. I'm toying around with either getting another PSG (would like an SD model, maybe by rains, jackson, etc) or keeping ...

First String Change...need string recs

Hope everyone is well... Well, I finally broke two strings last night...which led me to thinking it's time for a restring...Never bought PSG strings, so wondering what all is out there.. I really enjoy warmer sounds, but would like some clarity, much in the vain of John Neff (I know strings aren't t...

I finally picked up one...A Blackout Effectors Very Special Twosome...this thing is incredible! I love it with the T5 and Tele...it is really good with the PSG, just need to tweak some more. I was very close on getting a Maloney Buzztone (the boss tone clone) specifically just for the steel...perhap...

Have been interested in this since it came out...instead got a Genz Benz for my acoustic stuff...As for steel, would love to hear some clips...If I could get by without bringing the BFPR to every smaller gig/practice, would be nice...also, could be a nice pair for a stereo rig with the PR

Y'all must wait for some soon to be upcoming demos of the new Strymon Lex. Here is the link for the white paper...these guys do incredible work...I have the El Capistan which is their "3 tape echos in a box"...I must say, it's an incredibly built pedal...best thing short of having a space ...

Need Fuzz, what y'all use (esp 6 string and steel players)

Time for a fuzz, been searching high and low and so many choices it's mind boggling...

What do y'all use? And if you have clips, even better

Thanks

These guys over at Strymon (previously called Damage Control) are some of the very brightest designers I know of. They're doing things with digital processing that is as impressive as anything anyone is doing out there. Strymon is also making two of the very best delay pedals available, and with an...

I love my Strymon El Capistan...tape delay echo...sounds amazing on steel...and great thing is, this pedal also has a built in spring reverb as a secondary fuction that sounds rather good....I use the reverb out of the BF pro reverb, but it's still rather nice on the El Cap

I know this has been a dead thread for a while, but wanted to revamp it... Strymon is about to announce a new pedal, which we are all thinking is a leslie/rotary effect...it's called Lex...will have more details very soon, but knowing Strymon's reputation, this could be a great Leslie effect (if it ...

Paul, There's a ton of riffs on my site, all with sound files and tab to tell you how to play them. Just browse around and when you find a sound you like, go to the tab and learn it! You'll find intros, outros, fills, complete songs and many uses for knee levers. http://www.gregcutshaw.com/ For exa...

One month into my PSG...need the next step

I'm one month into playing. I absolutely love this thing and can't believe it took so long for me to finally get one. Last night was the first band practice that I used the steel. General melody was very easy for me to pick up having played 6string for many years. However, a few songs of that only s...

Geoff...yes, the empress has really intrigued me for some time, esp the vintage mod...there will be some demos up of the strymon vs. the empress soon (on the tape setting)...I do like the empress, but I really only feel I use the echo more than an analog/dig delay...will see how the strymon compares...

Well, my volume pedal concerns are no longer an issue...with the steel, it swells wonderfully...it was all the impedence on the taylor t5 lipstick pickup vs. the GFI II...gotta love people with know-how..

Re: another good option

The original blue SIB Echodrive is darn close to an echoplex. At least to my ears. Hard to find but worth searching for. No maintenance except for maybe an AX7 tube and lot's of analog controls. Yeah, those blue ones are incredible, that being said, I could by a new strymon, EP-2, AND a roland 150 ...

Alexa, I have used the carbon copy as well and was very impressed...sold it, but think i'll probably pick another up along with the El Capistan for both an echo and an analog... I'm still very intrigued by both the Roland 150 and/or 201 as well as the EP-2/3...Think I'll try the pedal first...If i f...

@Jack...That's understandable about having to "redesign"...your Franklin sounds just where I would like the A...even just 1/2way to the B would help...I'm sure i'll get used to it...good news is it makes the a+b+LKL easy :) Mine is the walnut version..It used to be an old friends first ste...

Hey yall...maybe I'll go ahead and start with the picks and give it a whirl. I do play guitar, but it's not the thumb pick that gets me...it's the 2nd finger pick, will just take some practice, just tough when you can actually play something without them... As for the pedals, I was wondering the sam...
