I replaced the pickup on the green guitar shown in my avatar with a George L 5-1. I had my former white mica guitar retrofitted with the Sierra modular system. I had a George L single coils which positively SANG, but also produced that 50 cycle hum. I also had some sort of humbucker, which was quiet...

Once again Curt had made a solid CD of songs we all know and love played on a steel guitar. What’s really cool about this and Curt’s previous work is that it’s all about the music, and not about Curt showing off his obviously considerable chops.

Two thumbs up.

During the years when I was gigging, I used a Music Man 212 H-D (One of the early all-tube ones made while Leo Fender co-owned the company.) This was a regular guitar amp. not designed for steel. During all that time, NOBODY ever told me I was using the wrong amp. For that matter, nobody ever told m...

I have his previous CD "The Lion Steeps Tonight." It's a real winner. I assume this one will be as good.

This guitar has a pickup, but no pre-amp (which is probably why it was discontinued and replaced with a model that has one.) It's not a very good electric guitar, but it's a GREAT acoustic. Bob Dylan is pictured with one on the cover of this record. https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix2020-03/925...

Frank, you are 3,000 miles from Jim's shop. It's too far for you to drive there but if you ship the guitar to him, it will be PERFECT when you get it back.

The pedal I use for the Dobro sound is a Dunlop Q-zone pedal. I thought they had been discontinued, but I was wrong. They are still available.

I also use a Steelaire. I especially like the leg mounted switch box and the powered effects loop. I have a pedal that simulates a dobro hard wired into mine. One flip pf a switch and voila: instant ped-a-bro.

My advise is to not wait. Sell the six shooter, maybe Jerry will take it back in trade,) and get a 10 string with 3 pedals and 4 knee levers now.

Re: Nice!

This is from 2002. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WkSnoeTWR4I Mike, I am curious. This sounds great! Did you use any levers/pedals in this solo or were you just playing a minor pentatonic or blues scale up/down the neck with the slide? I used the pedals, but not any knee levers. At one point I pla...

Mike, I have to admit I would never have listened to this type music had it not been done with pedal steel. Larry, and everybody else, there's a TON, no make that 10 tons, of great music out there OUTSIDE OF COUNTRY MUSIC, that's totally applicable to the steel guitar. My big secret, if you can cal...
