Buddy Quote

I'm grasping at straws here. Looking for a Tom Bradshaw produced cassette tape with a Q&A session from one of Buddy's performances. Might ask Mr. Bradshaw. . .

I took it to mean the Lead Guitarist nailed it. No reason to have a "I can do it too" moment.Sometimes heaven forbid ANOTHER instrument just "sums it up" "completes the tune" "says musically what needs to be said" etc. Hey sometimes (most times) :) it's us the...

Buddy's Passing

Proverbs 25:11 say's: A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver. This reminds me so much of Buddy Emmons. One of the things I most admired about Buddy was his "Impeccable" musical taste", everything he played "FIT" and enhanced the music. So many recor...

Marlen

Just saw this, brings back some memories. I bought a 76 model "Bi-centenial Marlen" from Ace Pawn on north May Ave in Oklahoma City in 1979. I think I paid $700 for it. Red White Blue, 3 pedals, 3 Knee levers, I called Leonard Stadler and he sent me a Knee lever kit and pull rods. Black an...

Thanks All,

Mr.Claveria is one fine steel picker. It would be nice if one of the "conventions" would find a place for him on their program. He sure picked up some "fans" at the TSGA. :)

Mr. Tanner is quite a talent also. I look forward to hearing these guys in the future.

TSGA steel player?

Peavey room at TSGA Late Saturday afternoon in the "Peavey" room, I saw 3 guys playing some great "Swing" stuff. :) There was a fellow on an upright Bass, who did a little singing, and I believe Howard Kalish was on "fiddle". Who was the steel player? He played a laquer ...

Nashville 112 Tone Shaping

I took my 112 out to play tonite, & was not pleased with the thin sound. Sounded great at the house. I did a search for settings: for shift, pre & post gain, presence, etc ..... Maybe I just don't know how to search the old posts...... Anyone have 112 amp settings they would like to s...

OK The topic says: What component of the guitar contributes the most to tone? "Tone" seems to be pretty subjective. :) Most have their definition of good tone, bad tone, acceptable tone etc... Will the guitar reproduce low lows, high highs? Sustain-duration? Bright? Dark? Does it acoustica...

Mine is IDENTICAL to what you describe. SN# 16842
I bought it around 1982 or 83, was a "Demo" not sure how long it had been on the floor. I would guess yours is from the early 1980's also.

Sho-Bud Pickup Question

My Pro 1 has the original Sho-Bud single coil pickup. It sounds OK, produces an "acceptable" tone (reg. tm of Jim Cohen) :) Has the usual single coil noise. Nice little guitar to take out to a gig... But mostly I play my Fessenden, I really like the tone and quietness of it's Lawrence 710 ...

I was at the Dallas seminar and found it quite informative. No it was NOT a Jeff Newman Seminar.Jeff Newman was an excellent steel instructor (I have lots of his material)and a great musician, but he could be somewhat abrupt and abrasive at times. Kind of a "my way or the highway"approach....
