Hey John. Now you’re making my guitar have an inferiority complex. but I did see that I had the pull rods in place to engage the lower notes on the 5 pedal. Obviously I don’t spend enough time on the low strings (im kind of intimidated messing under the hood with push-pull but with motivation it...

There’s the rub. My 5 pedal doesn’t raise the 10 string a whole note. I imagine I’ll be looking for some pull rods and such. Thanks for solving that mystery. And I appreciate you taking the time.
Cheers

Hey John thanks. I must be doing something wrong or I am not playing the right strings. I get to b flat from a half-step raise on my a 4th string. And my 5 lowers the 5th string. Are you set up differently than I am? Open on the third fret gives me the Eflat chord: b flat- g- e flat-c- b flat-g-efla...

Well I can get from e flat to the augmented by playing b flat with the 6 pedal and then adding the c to c# which I have on my lkl. Still trying to slide into the Aflat maj7. I searched for C6th augmented voicing on the Forum. Guess I should have started there.

Augmented chords in C6th

I am learning ‘Smoke Gets in Your Eyes’ in E flat and there is a short passage that goes E flat, E flat augmented, A flat, E flat diminished. The augmented is my problem. On the E 9th I can carefully bring my A pedal halfway up to get the augmented I chord and then a and b all the way up to get ...

There is an app on iPhone iPad called the amazing slow downer. You have to import the song you want to modify. It then lets you adjust the tempo and/or the pitch incrementally, up or down. The pitch part is great for old recordings that are too sharp for E and too flat for F. You can even loop a lit...

C6th

If you want to improve how you feel about your E9th playing, get a double neck and start working on the C6th. It is amazing how much better your E9 sounds after you do that.

Travis I am an Endodontist in Slidell but I live in N.O. I’m not great but I know all the basics (and how hard to find this information is to find when you are getting started). Call at the office and leave your info there. The office is 985-649-4881. I hate to put my home number on a forum Jody D...

There is book called equal temperament and how it ruined harmony. The author goes into the theory behind the discrepancies between just and equal temperament (I.e. why when you tune gramma’s piano perfectly in the k ey of C, it only sounds good in C,F, and G maybe D and A, but it sounds terrible i...

Who needs pedals?

I spent a lot of Wednesday’s with Johnny from 2010 to 2014. I have some recordings on an old iPad but they are lessons, so he's mostly just showing examples and not playing whole songs. And you sure don't want to hear me since I was learning C6th from him. His back really got the best of him and h...

MTM the real actress

Although known for sitcoms, MTM was a great big screen actress. In her Oscar nominated performance she played a woman a lot like my Mom. My sister and I saw it separately and we both commented how much that was like my Mom and I behaved with each other. But we said nothing because we didn't,t think ...

I like the traditional musical notation above the tablature. It really helps with the C6th since I don't know my notes as well there.

thanks everybody, I just love this forum. I come back from work and there are all these great suggestions waiting for me. This place is great. Tuning problem on Emmons push-pull

i have an emmons push-pull from the late 70's or early 80's. recentlr i have had the following problem: When I tune to g# i tune it open first with no pedal just to get clos. Then I depress the b pedal and tune the a note again with the tuning knobs. When I let go of the pedal and go back to check t...

Intonation

I have to agree with Tommy. It would have to be in the string itself if it was In tune in one place on the neck and not in tune further up the neck. And it probably is only one of the two strings but I don't exactly know how you would tell which one. Hope this is it.

Steelers backs

I have to say I am surprised at how quick this brought responses. I think Hook has the worst of it what with the stimulator and all, but anybody with this pain is sufferring because it is in direct conflict with your best escape from bad stuff in your life--playing your instrument. Even though I fig...

Psg players and their backs

Since I just had a guided epidural injection on my back on Fri. I am curious, how common are back problems with psg players? I had lumbar surgery years ago when I was younger and my teacher Johnnie Bonvillain has just recently had surgery. Now I have a new herniated disc higher up in a much less ope...

I had a double neck Marrs. I traded it in on push-pull Emmons with Bobbe Seymour. I have regretted it ever since. If Bobbe agrees to any kind of trade or trade- in only do it because you want to do it. Don 't think you know something he doesn't - cuz you don't. By the way, the Emmons is very good an...

I have a push pull emmons reissue that has a vertical lever which will pull my low e up to f. The great part is ( i don't know why it does this) when I press my P6 which normally lowers the e to eflat, it has no effect on my low e string and the f stays an f while the high e goes up to f. So the ver...

That is pretty. What sort of knee levers do you have controlling the C6th? Also, is it a hybrid? Thanks.
