I'm so sorry to hear about Milt. He would drive 500 miles to the Saluda show four times a year, and anywhere else there was a show. He always had a smile and was always the best dressed man at the show! https://www.stithfuneralhome.com/obituaries/Milton-Milt-Raymond-Mounce?obId=19962731#/obituaryInfo

My heartfelt condolences to Donna and the family. I can only imagine what Donna has been through. I had an uncle who went through a long battle with cancer and he told me that it was tougher on his family than it was on him. I'd never really thought about it from that perspective until he said that....

Great friend, great musician

This was a real shock for me and everyone who knew Alonzo. He was one of those musicians who couldn't get enough playing. As Russ Hicks mentioned in an earlier post, Alonzo and I stayed at his house during the Stars and Steel Guitars show, and we had a great time having fellowship with our musical f...

If you're looking for something small and lightweight, check out the Yorkville YX10 https://www.fullcompass.com/common/files/9000-YorkvilleYX10SpecSheet.pdf They are $200 each new, but check Guitar Center used gear; I got some for way way less. They are clean as a whistle and weight only 24 lbs. For...

I had a great time as well. Thanks to everyone involved for making it happen. I especially enjoyed getting to know the folks we were playing for including Ralph & Lois and Tim & Alys - everyone was so kind to us. And it was good to finally meet Jim Cohen, who played great and got a standing ...

Thanks, thanks a lot!

This show was truly special. We had a handful of steel players who would have been headliners on most shows. Everybody likes going on a cruise, but being there with a group of friends that like "our kind of music" made the experience so much better. Thanks to everyone who coordinated the s...

Enjoyed the Show

Thank you for having me at the show. It's a great venue for a steel show, and everyone there is always so nice to us.

I was really looking forward to playing "I Won't Mention it Again" with Arnett, but hopefully we'll get another chance to play together soon.

Great Show!

I agree, it was one of the best shows ever. Buck Reid is a truly talented player. His CD "Work in Progress" is one of the best I've ever heard. The more I listened to it (and practiced with it), the more impressed I was with Buck and the other musicians on the album. Already looking forwar...

Looking forward to a good weekend! I'm coming Saturday, as well as Jim Hartley and John Swain. Congrats on the retirement Ken! My amps sound better with the chip mods. They cleaned up the sound in my Special 130. For those who haven't tried, they're worth it, but get them from Ken because there are counterfeits out there!

Ken, are you coming to the NW Georgia show in Dallas GA on Feb 10th?

First, I would like to offer my condolences to Bunny and the family. Herby was a special person. You didn’t have to be an elite player to be his friend, just strike up a conversation. As a staff player at several shows, no matter how mediocre I played, Herby would always say “thanks for pulling me t...

Thanks to Herby Wallace and Georgia pickers

In addition to Buddy Walker and Charles Reece, we should thank Herby Wallace and all of the Georgia pickers who have made numerous trips to Saluda. I hope they can all come and make show #100 special.

Woody was a superb musician and a truly remarkable man. For me, the thing that stood out most about him was how he treated other people. Even before he became ill, he called me one day to tell me how much my friendship meant to him. I’m sure he made similar calls and comments to many of you. Most gu...

Re: Rick Campbell

Rick, For example, in Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain in the key of E, at the end of the first line I would expect the bass player to do one of two things. Most bass players would do a walk from E to B (E Eb Db B). If the bass did not walk, the whole first line for the bass player would be: 1 5 - 1 5 -...

I had tried forcing the bass line, but it still seems to have a mind of its own. I tried adjusting the stylemaker (shift/cntl/F9)but I don't see any documentation as to what the numbers mean.

2/4 style with better bass pattern

I am looking for a BB style or way to modify a 2/4 style to improve the bass line. If the bass is playing a progression of 1 to 4, I do not want it to end on the 5 note before going to the next chord. For example, if the song goes from C to F, it should either walk from C to F (C, D, E, F) or hold t...
