Which Alumitone?

Hey Dennis, I am rebuilding an old Bronson Lap Steel and am toying with the idea of new electronics. Which Alumitone model pup have you chosen for your guitar. I see a lot of guys on the forum go with Bass Bars. Is that something you only need when dealing with 8 ,10 and 12 string guitars, or is it ...

Youth Appeal

If you are going to try and get some young players interested in Steel Guitar you had better be making something they like. Most production lap Steels have a rather uninteresting look. Akin to a 2 x 6 with strings. The young guns out there need something they can wrap their heads and hands around. P...

Bottom coat?

I see where this this stuff is Translucent.
Are you using a bottom coat of paint, and over spraying with the Crystal finish? I like the look of this.
Might look killer with one of Dennis' faux shell fretboards.
I'm still looking for ideas to re-do the old beater Bronson I am working on.

Tuner Buttons??

Hi Guys,
I am looking for a source for Tuner Buttons. I hate the idea of putting stark white buttons on a 1930's Ricky.

Are there Ivory colored buttons available?

If I have to buy white, do you think they could be soaked in coffee or tea to give them a warmer look?

Jim

Dennis, Have you tried laminating your product? Say maybe a 10 mil film laminate. Since it is toner based it should hold up to the heat. We do a lot of laminating where we afix a double sided adhesive backer for perminent applications. I think once I fix up the fretboard this stuff will stick well. ...

Hi Dennis, I am working on my first re-build of a lap steel. It's a 30ish Bronson. I like the fret boards you are making. Can you supply these finishes on a crack n peel vinyl? I will not be removing the existing fretboard, maybe a thiner plexi will work better then crack n peel. I'm kinda thinking ...

Dennis, Do you have any new photos? Looks like you have a fretboard right behind that cold miller lite, how about a photo of that.(the fretboard, not the beer) This looks like a cool project. There was a real nice Pierce Console Steel on ebay last week. I missed it by $5.00, I hope one of you forum guys got it. That was the reason I asked about Lloyd Green, Leonard Atchley, and Ray Krick.
