I just purchased a Fishman Nashville Reso Spider pickup, which I have not installed yet.
I do not use a palm rest and rest my palm directly on the saddle. Does anyone know if this will cause problems with the pickup?

I bought a FairyTale
I realize I'm late to the party but just ran across this thread. After a lot of thought and considering modding one of my lapsteels with a multibender I bought a Duesy FairyTale back in February. It was expensive but the craftsmanship is superb and the built in capo is almost as amazing as the bende...

Change the cone
I think either of the Resos in question would be fine but I would plan on replacing the cone with a Scheerhorn cone. Both of the instruments in question probably have Continental cones which aren't bad but not great either. Three years ago I bought a Recording King reso. It too had a Continental con...

George Boards S-8 w/ Alumitone SOLD (pending payment)
Bought this new last year on the forum. Set up with a Lace Alumitone pickup on a 23 inch scale. Sounds great, plays great, no functional issues. Plus it's a great looking steel with its color shift finish. SOLD: awaiting payment http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix1205/8876_George_Boards_color_shi...

New Setup
I recently purchased a Presonus FireStudio Mobile and replaced the Zoom R16 as a computer interface. The Firewire frees up the USB ports on my Mac Book Pro and the latency is very low. I can run a lap steel or guitar through an amp into one of the line-in ports on the Presonus and get the exact soun...

I switched everything from PC to Mac about a year ago. Switched my business and everything. Had to purchase a ton of Mac software and sell the PC software (that was salable) on eBay. But making the switch was a great decision. My experience with the Mac is that it is much more logical than the PC an...

I have a no name that, except for the color of the fingerboard, looks exactly like this guitar. My understanding is that Dickerson manufactured these guitars under license for several labels, including Magnatone, Oahu, Varsity, Bronson. I've seen them selling on eBay under all of the above names. A ...

Bobby Wolfe
Sorry to hear about Bobby's wife. I have never owned a Wolfe but I have played several in his shop and they are excellent instruments. Years ago I had a 60-D Dobro that had the straight cone. Bobby routed it out for me, put a quarterman in it along with a maple/ebony bridge. Before setting it up he ...

Crafters of Tennessee
I'm pretty certain that those guitars were made by Crafters of Tennessee. At one time Mark Taylor and Richie Owens had a business relationship. Richie worked for Gibson prior to that.
If you contact Mark he can tell you if he made yours.

Rondo is a better choice
I bought the Rondo SX and it has been great. http://www.rondomusic.com/LG1na.html I had some issues with the bridge so I replaced it with one from Bob Allen of Melbert Steels and improved the ground. http://www.musonmt.com Although the tuners were adequate I replaced them with Golden Gates. I love m...

Not what I expected :(
I bought one of these and that was a mistake (IMHO). The Rondo wasn't in stock so I decided that this looked like a real good deal on a decent inexpensive lap steel. To begin with the pickup didn't work when I got it. Took the back plate off and then the pickup worked. Put the back plate on and it q...
