Hey, C.E., as a Rocco owner myself I too was glad to finally see the steel that got away in 2005. You are fortunate to have a Rocco bar in addition to that great instrument. I hope I can find one of those bars and a Tonexpressor too someday. To see another Rocco in action and sounding good, check ou...

Many thanks for taking a moment to address something so basic.

She asked me where to buy, too. Any recommendations for reputable, helpful dealers?

Finally, any South Jersey/Philly steelers interested in a student?

Recommendations for a starter setup

Hi folks, I am a non-pedal player inquiring on behalf of a friend who wants to buy her husband--an experienced guitar player, beginning steeler--a decent pedal steel and the essential accessories for Christmas. She also wants to set him up with lessons in New Jersey a little ways south of Philadelph...

Thanks for your kind comments, Geoff. The fellow who made this eye-popping guitar, long retired from Martin, was so pleased to hear that folks on the Forum appreciate what he achieved in making this this ultra-deluxe Eharp. He is a wonderfully modest man, but I think he is pretty proud of this instr...

Unusual Alkire EHarp

An EHarp made in 1961 by a C.F. Martin employee whose son was a student of Eddie Alkire. Alkire's jaw must have dropped when the kid pulled this out of the case, but the lessons evidently didn't take--the instrument remained in untouched condition, stored for more than four decades in its standard E...

A longer answer: It will depend on the solubility of the paint versus the original clear coating, which is most likely nitrocellulose lacquer. You will want to see if the spray paint can be dissolved in something that won't affect the lacquer at all, or as quickly. The key to controlled cleaning of ...

I don't know about his steel playing, but Anthony Rocco was quite the wordsmith. Elbert Hubbard with a tone bar. Maybe he had some help from a copy writer for Epiphone. Thanks for posting this.

Sorry, Ron, my wording made it sound like I have a roomful of Rocco steels. I meant that I have gathered photos of them--not the steels themselves! Here's a good shot I found of a display at the Wichita-Sedgwick County Historical Museum--some real lookers in there along with a very fine looking Rocc...

It was a lucky find in a rural music store about 15 years ago. If you want to hear one in action there is a Curb Records promotional video for Hank Williams III on YouTube that has Big Jim Murphy getting an amazingly cool sound. You barely catch a glimpse of his Rocco, but that's what it is, and che...

Wow, what a great bar--even if it didn't function well it would still be a great '30's object. Cool indeed, Dave. I wish these turned up more often. Part of a set...here's one of the other components... http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix0912/8844_Rocco_case_2.jpg http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/u...
