(I've never been a fan of that "out of phase" sound) Both of the out of phase combinations use a small capacitor as the jumper, so they're more of a "half out of phase" sound. I have no clue what value the cap is - I just wired up alligator clips and kept trying whatever was on ...

In my opinion, Fender never really got the switching right. They should have gone for individual toggle switches. Before the 8-string showed up, I had a Fender S-1 switch to toggle between the two necks, and 5-way super switch wired up in Deaf Eddie's "5-Tone Tele" scheme - either pickup ...

I've seen T8's in the old Fender catalogs that had both the blade switch and the toggle switch, but the only descriptions I've found for the controls are of the earlier push-button switch.

Seldom-seen parts for my bastard Stringmaster

https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix1712/8354_20200119_133707_1.jpg My Dual Six recently adopted an orphaned 8-string neck - something I had wanted to do for several years, but had never seen it done, and had never found a reasonably priced neck. It came with a set of what are most likely Seymou...

These were made in Japan and sold under a number of different names, including Arai, Arai Diamond, and Jedsen. They're all identical, though some did not have legs. More importantly, they sound like crap, and their sustain is nearly non-existent. Gilmour used them because they didn't want to lug aro...

Looking for Tuner Pans for a Fender D6 Dual Professional

(I just realized that I've been referring to it as a Deluxe when it's actually a Dual Professional . Glad I got that cleared up!) I bought a butchered early '50s Dual Professional a while ago that someone had tried to convert to a D8, and later sold at a yard sale. They even went to the trouble of r...

I was only referring to the tailpiece, and said nothing about the violin. Have you tried Ebay?

The tailpiece couldn't be very old, since fine tuners weren't invented until the early 1900s, after steel strings became cheaper to produce than gut strings.

Fender Deluxe 6/Dual 6 Professional Tuner Pans

I just bought a badly abused Dual 6 Professional that someone converted to a Dual 8 by filling in the rout for the tuner pans, and screwing on some tuner mounts. I'd like to find the correct tuner pans, but since I'll be stripping and re-routing, I'd consider any set of 6-string tuner pans. I'll als...

Last year I replaced my PODxt Live with the POD X3 Live - both of these have an external expression pedal jack, and any 250k volume pedal works fine. Not only does your signal not pass through the volume pedal, but you can set the minimum and maximum volume levels for it on the X3. This way I have m...

Since I scaled things down a few years ago, I sold all of my beloved analog stompboxes and replaced them with a Line 6 PODxt Live, which I replaced with the X3 Live - both of these have an external expression pedal jack, and any 250k volume pedal works fine. Not only does your signal not pass throug...

Revisiting an old Gilmour thread...

I know there are a few die-hard Pink Floyd fans on here, but I'm surprised no one mentioned UNICORN. Not the best name for a British country/rock band, so their biggest claim to fame is that David Gilmour produced several of their album between '74 and '77, just as he was getting into pedal and lap ...

DeArmond 602 Voume Pedal question

Just picked up a very clean DeArmond voume pedal on Ebay for $30 to use with my lap steel. My only issue with it is that as it moves, I can feel every tooth on the little plastic gear. Has anyone run into this, and come up with a way to make it move more smoothly? I know I've used white lithium grea...

I understand that, but I am looking for a 6-string equivalent to their 8-string pickups. I'm sure Seymour Duncan would make one as a custom order, but I was wondering if anyone knew if they changed anything between the 400/1000 pickups and the Jazzmaster. I need to talk to my boys at the Seymour Dun...

Fender 400/1000 Pickups?

Can anyone tell me if the larger pickup in the 400 and 1000 models is the same as the Fender Jazzmaster pickup, or are there differences? I'm working on plans for a 6-string lap steel, and if they are the same, I wouldn't mind having that sound at all - I had a 400 for a while but recently parted wi...

Bridge cover for Fender 400 (long scale)

I'd like to find a bridge cover for my late '50s Fender 400. It has seen its share of the road, so it doesn't have to be perfect. If you have one you're willing to part with, send me a message and let me know what you want for it. Thanks!

I did find 4-40 cap screws easily enough, at a shop in Latrobe, Pennsylvania called The Nut House - perfect length, 8 stainless and 8 black; looks pretty sweet.

I've been all over the site, and though he does have a nice photo gallery of some of his guitars, I haven't found any mention of tunings anywhere. I've even emailed him, since he seems to encourage it, but I haven't heard back yet and it's been a few weeks.

B.J. Cole tunings?

Is anyone familiar with BJ Cole's work, and happen to know what tunings he usually uses? I know he used a mid-'60s Fender 1000 (maybe a 2000) in the early/mid-'70s, but that's about all I know.

I like your DeArmond volume pedal! I thought about getting one for the Pink Floyd aesthetic, but found a low-profile vintage Fender one with both jacks on one side.
