Need ZB Help

One of our local guys bought a SD-10 ZB off Ebay. The guitar arrived with three broken changers. I took the guitar over to Albert Johnson's shop and we came to the decision that the guitar needed a ZB expert. Is there such a person that he could send the guitar to ? Thanks for responding.

Rick, make sure the 4th string is a plain .020 or plain .022 . Years ago I had the same problem trying to make a .022 wound tune up that I had put on by mistake. Just an idea.

Eric, I don't know exactly when your guitar was made. I'm sure Bob Tuttle could come closer to the date than me. I would think it's earlier than 1974 because of the rack & barrel under carriage and the single raise/single lower changers that it had originally. If you have any questions, email me...

Eric, I refurbished Your Pro-I for Ernie Cawby. It was truly a basket case when Ernie brought it to me. The flockig was used because I'm not a big fan of spatter paint that Sho-Bud used on the earlier guitars. The old rack and barrel system was replaced with triple raise/bouble lower changers with a...

Paul, I'm more or less retired from the guitar business. If you want to talk, you can reach me at (850) 877-0811.
My email address is leonusn@comcast.net. I had to have a pacemaker installed and can't get to close to the electric motors on the machinery.
Thanks for asking.

Kyle is a very neat and talented young man. After he finished colledge(MBA), I loaned him a couple of my Steels at different times. I think he has more steels than me now.
I'm glad he's doing well.

Doug Jernigan has been my favorite steel player since 1961. The photo below was taken in 1962 at the Air Force base in Fort Walton, Florida. The Guitar player with the DiAngelico New Yorker is Clyde Kendrick. He laid the foundation for Doug's Pop and Jazz abilities. Make no mistake, Doug was a monst...

Michael, I traded a Navy Shipmate a brand new MSA S-10 for the Pro-III around 1975. It was black at that time and was dis-assembled. If I had bought a MSA d-10 I would most likely be playing it to this date. Being a Senior Chief Avation Machinists mate, putting a D-10 Sho-Bud back together was not a...

Ray, My Pro-III has a serial number of 6339. I was under the impression that it was one of the first ones made. I can't remember the exact date that I got it. I know I had it for a couple of years when I retired form the U S Navy December 23, 1977.

Skip, Thanks for the compliment. I'm glad you like the guitar. Hang on to it because it's the only Sho-Bud I've played that didn't have any cabinet drop what so ever. You done a super job building that cabinet.

I have a rack with a Blue-Tube II with the steel mod. I go from the volume pedal to the B-T II and then go out of the B-T II line level into a Boss SE-50 line level. There is a switch on the SE-50 that allows you to go in either line level or instrument level. I come out of the SE-50 stereo into a d...

Boss DR-880 download problems

Greg Cutshaw has graciously made his patterns and songs for the Boss DR-880 Drum machine available. I went to the Roland site and downloaded the latest drivers for Windows 7 64-bit. I also downloaded Greg's files. My Problems being that when I try to open either file, I get the "Windows cannot ...

David, make sure your ground wire on your pickup is grounded to the changer. If it's not, you will get bad noises that will make you think the pickup is microphonic.

Jerry, on my stock LDG the decal is 5/8 of an inch from the end plate. If the end plate is removed, the decal is 3 inches from the end of the cabinet.
Hope this helps. Leon

Fender Steel King ?

I was playing at a jam this past Saturday using my Fender Steel King. I was put in the corner of the room and placed my FSK in the corner leaning back so I could hear myself without blasting the others. After a couple of hours my Steel King Shut down. The power light was still on but no sound whatso...
