Thought you all might enjoy this number - JERSEY BOUNCE - from my recent recording project TEXAS BOUND. Aaron Till and I played the fiddles, and there is some fine steel work by Gary Carter.

Texas Bound

Thought you all might enjoy hearing this title track from my recently recorded TEXAS BOUND album. The song was written and performed by my friend Lloyd Wood. I'm playing the fiddles, and the other musicians include: Gary Carter (steel guitar); Jimmy Carter (bass); Garth Justice (drums); Jonathan Bro...

Very well, done! I was privileged to play in Tom T’s band for 4 years (83 - 86). Although most of his songs used Dobro, Tom loved the steel. While I was with him we had 2 terrific steel players - Ray Edwards and Mike Cass - and both tripled by also playing Dobro and banjo.

OBS with Doug Jernigan

This is my version of Orange Blossom Special. My performance is mediocre, but DOUG JERNIGAN played the steel track, and it is fantastic (as always with DJ). Another legendary steel guitarist, Robby Turner, produced this track and assisted with the arrangement. Anyway, thought some of you steel playe...

Another TTH song with some terrific steel is "The Old Side of Town." I believe Larry Sasser played steel on that record. I was with TTH (fiddle) from 83-86. Most of Tom's songs used dobro. During my tenure, we had 2 terrific steel/dobro players in the band: Ray Edwards and Mike Cass.

Heart Over Mind with Gary Carter

I recently completed a recording project of Western Swing and traditional country which was co-produced by steel guitarist Gary Carter. Here is our rendition of Heart Over Mind with my friend Lloyd Wood doing the vocals. I'm playing the fiddles and Gary is playing steel. https://soundcloud.com/brape...

Very kind words, Jerry. Always an honor to play with the great steelers from Louisville Metro. The final mix/master was done by none other than steel guitar legend Robby Turner. I'll post some other recordings later where RT is playing. Tone and taste at the highest level.

Danny Parks is doing the ES style guitar work. He's a great player who frequently subs for Kerry Marx on the Grand Ole Opry staff band.

Gary Carter - Faded Love Break

Here's a recording of "Faded Love" I've recently completed.
I'm doing the fiddles. Gary Carter is playing steel, and he plays a great ride and some terrific fills. Ernie Rowell is doing the vocals.

I'm adding this recent recording of "Faded Love" to this thread ONLY b/c Gary Carter is playing on it. On my best day I'm a medium fiddler, but Gary is amazing, and he plays a great break on this. It's easy to see why so many steel players hold him in such high regard. https://soundcloud.c...

I had been playing through a Genz Benz Shennandoah which sounded great, but weighed a ton. I sometimes use an Ultrasound 100 watt amp, which has a terrific natural/acoustic sound, but it lacks headroom when I play with steels and electric guitars. I really prefer an amp designed for acoustic instrum...

I just purchased the Quilter Steelaire Combo to play the fiddle through. It sounds great throughout the entire tonal spectrum. Clean with lots of headroom, and I love the fact that it only weighs 35 lbs. It came with a really nice cover, too!

I am putting this homemade video up ONLY because GARY CARTER is playing steel on it. It's a chance for you all to hear this great steeler play some Texas Swing, which - amusingly - he was concerned about doing since he doesn't play much swing. I've known Gary for a long time, and he is a terrific gu...

Mandy Barnett sitting in with the TimeJumpers. She sings "It Wasn't God Who Made Honkytonk Angels" with PF taking a great ride! Note Larry Franklin as he shakes his head saying "that was a great solo."
