If it is an old/vintage steel, be sure to somehow listen to the steel being played - even if it is just a FaceTime or Zoom call where the seller slowly picks each string so that you can hear if the pickup works good across all the strings. Yes, as a seller I've made videos with out being asked and ...

IMO, meet them in person, exchange cash and the steel after you've had a reasonable chance to check out the steel. Period. Same goes for Craigslist. I would not send any money, any way, any how, to someone you can't get a very solid read on, especially on a venue that doesn't have built-in protecti...

Matt, I’m not trying to be historically or stylistically accurate or anything, just having fun playing some compositions that I love in a style of my choosing, that’s all. I fall in love with something and I want play it. This music has been in my life for a long time and I think I’m ready to play ...

Mike,

Very cool, but the composition sounds to me to have the influences of where Gottschalk lived and travelled, New Orleans, Paris and the Caribbean, but not the Pacific.

Re: Gibson 7 string EGE-6784

Does anybody have a guesstimate sale price for this guitar please? It seems that Guitar Center has one for $1350 albeit without a case. https://www.guitarcenter.com/Used/Gibson/Vintage-1930s-EH-150-Lap-Steel-118374381.gc So your $1500 with a good case is right in the ballpark The ad states: OHSC. Hey folks, If I was in the acquisitive mode, I'd think this was something I'd be picking up at that price. That said, I do want people to know that Jim Dulfer knows a hell of a lot about vintage equipment. He doesn't post often on the Forum. I became acquainted with him through a Craigslist post a f...

Keith do you consider the PGP portable unit to be as good as their rackmount units? Wouldn't hurt for me to try one of these, though I have used a couple of other ones that didn't seem to help much. I suppose that if they didn't solve my issues, that would indicate suitability for trying your invent...

Keith, I don't think this is of much general interest, but I have tried a second power line to the 3rd floor that I assumed would sound a lot cleaner, but it didn't. Whether this demonstrates an RF issue seems indicated, maybe. Having folks try the equipment out at homes could be of interest but I d...

When I get ready for testing I will try to get with you Jerry Keith, I have a lot of old amps, lap steels and regular guitars. To my ear, there's nothing better sounding than a black panel Vibrolux loaded with K110s. Fortunately, I've got a Princeton that I loaded with one. The most clarity of any guitar speaker that I have ever heard. I can add distortion with a stomp box, you can't add clarity!

I stopped playing with a stand and went back to lap because I was using pedals! Unless you're going to use a stand across your lap, I'm interested in your pedal technique, very hard for me to get much control while standing.

I'm wondering if and how Oahu was integrated. It's known that the steel was (and still is) a part of certain black churches. Was their music education done through the church or Oahu or both (or some other source(s))?
