Ahh, the bottom side pic clearly shows a stepped neck, and why multiple necks can't bee seen in the straight on shot. Awesome classic. Loved the video. Regards, John

Re: One pedal ?

Bud Harger wrote:Walter's steel appears to have one floor pedal.

The current picture shows none, was it removed? What was the original set-up?
Is it the same guitar? The guitar in the band photo looks like a single neck guitar.

On your first question, I believe the 2nd string eyelet was cut off to permit the string to lower a whole step--an alteration that was suggested by Winnie Winston in an article in the late lamented Steel Guitarist magazine. Sure enough Brint, found this thread on the old forum. http://steelguitarfo...

1977 Sho~Bud changer questions

Hi folks, I'm going through a Pro-1 and have several questions on the changer that I was hoping somebody could answer. The first two pics shows that one of the cast levers has been cut and filed. I don't remember those eyelets on the cast pieces even hooking up to anything. Whats going on here? http...

finish

If it's the guitar I think it is, the pics don't do it justice. The ones I've seen have a translucent black such that the wood grain shows. Very cool looking guitar

Work hardened tips?

Hey Bob,
Just to throw another idea out there, the tips are constantly being worked. Maybe, if subjected to this process long enough they could eventually become "worked hardened"? I wonder if the remaining rod is as brittle or if it just was the tip?

John

Damir,

Impressive underneath pics. I'm not familiar with this make of guitar. Is the console made from plate aluminum? Very solid looking machine.

Here are some pics of the undercarriage of my 2003 LaGarritt. Really appreciate your feedback on this instrument Bob. It's my first PSG and I really had no idea of what I had. http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix1403/8181_IMG_20140621_195951_274_1.jpg http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix1403/818...

If the mica side was more protected from the effects of drying, wouldn't the apron be bowing the other way? Humm .... If curing was not causing the bow, and wood shrinks when it dried (as opposed to swelling when damp) then perhaps compressive forces are causing the bow? Maybe the apron is the sympt...

Care and feeding for PSG's

Hi folks,

I'm new to the world of PGS and just purchased a unit off of the forum. Being a do-it-yourself kinda guy, wonder if there are any instructions out there for maintaining these instruments?

Twayn Williams wrote:Buy a lap steel and begin with that. If you stick with it through learning slants, and still want the pedal sound, get a pedal steel.
I second this advice, because its the route I took. I just bought a pedal steel off the forum, but have been playing lap steel and dobro for a few years now.
