I've used an original Stoboflip for years and have been happy, although I rarely get the display to totally stabilize and the grey color of the display is not the easiest to see (newer ones are much better). Very happy w/ Strobosoft. I use it with iPad mini in a Focusrite I-track dock w/OE9/SC6 pres...

The high point of the nearly 40 years I've sat behind a PSG remains the 3+ years I spent across the guitar from Buddy at Oxon Hill Music and later at Whitt's Harley dealership down the road. Given the great players he trained I'm sure I ranked as a frustrating challenge for him, but he never lost pa...

weight of Sierra
Damir - I'm helping a newbie look for his first steel. He's a bit concerned about weight, do you have weight in/out of case for the Sierra?

Mike - not in the market for a new guitar (have an '84 SKH LeGrande that I love along with a few Carters) but this is beauty and seeing the way your Dad kept it up and kept all the documentation really impressed me. Everyone should be as attentive to detail with their instruments as he was. I see yo...

A long dormant thread, but since I was searching info about Studio Pro (need to replace speaker I blew out at high volume/high distortion w/tele) thought I throw in 2 cents in case anyone is looking at one of these. I've had this one since early 80s. Fine practice amp for electric and steel. I used ...

Great stories! My start was 6 string and then inheriting a nice Gibson mandolin from my grandfather in 1975. Took it to local music store and asked what I could do with it, reply was either learn it or put it in safe deposit box. So, started learning bluegrass (which I never liked) - this led me to ...

On-line recording/jamming software course
I've just finished up a 6 week online course learning a bit of software called JackTrip that lets 2 or more people jam/record online. The software is designed to lower internet latency to tolerable (>30ms) delays that let people play together without a major sense of being out of time with each othe...

I had good luck w/naptha/lighter fluid method. Just be sure not to get it on finish. You can do this in two steps, one applying between fingers from the top side and work pedals/levers, and a second step putting guitar on blocks upside down and coming from the bottom side while working pedals/levers...

Douglas - thanks much for posting. I have been scouring two houses for a year for my copy of Neil Flanz' chord book to no avail and this will get me back on track with some of the chords I used to know but have long since forgotten. And thanks to Trap for his work. Of course this means that tomorrow...

Thanks for reviving the thread, I hadn't seen it before and it is fascinating to read folks stories. For me 2 years in radio news where I learned I was not Walter Cronkite and got fired, but learned good recording technique. 26 years after that with a trade group representing grain businessin Washin...
