Linnstrument - a post-pedal steel not much like a guitar

Roger Linn - playing his Linnstrument, "Pedal Steel Guitar " http://youtu.be/XzfDlEe0VfM The heart of LinnStrument is a multi-touch surface that senses the pressure, left/right movement and forward/backward movement of each finger, continuously and polyphonically. Typically, pressure contr...

Indy Rail is a tone monster, hand made, is a blues and rock razor. And, it's a head turner too for a modern guitar.

I want to hazard an evidence-free guess. The ZB in the clip with Bert Jansch was there already or otherwise was a loaner brought into the studio for the session in Sussex, UK.

Robert Allen's guitars and 'best of class' service

Hat tip to Bob Allen, aka the man and mind behind Allen Melbert Steel Guitars. http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix1029/7640_AllenMelbertlapsteelknobs_2.jpg One of the cats knocked over the Melbert 6 and gravely damaged a knob. Bob responded to my query instantly and soon enough with a pair of kno...

Sneaky Pete. then everybody else. There's a lot of awesome players I like a lot. I'm pleased Susan Alcorn was mentioned. Completely subjectively, I go for uniqueness over ripping virtuosity, but there's something about those who can play Charlie Parker 'at velocity' on a steel that knocks me out. So...

My 2 400's have at least 75 years of history, and it seems there's never been any breakage. But, who knows what the actual playing hours add up to be. I don't have anything modern to compare cables to, since all my (only) recent experience is on a 400, but I assume the whole pedal-to-cable pull is s...

Bob Allen's Melbert guitars, of which I have a 6 string version, has got to be one of the best kept secrets in the lap steel world.

It's a player's guitar at a great price; made in the USA by a really nice guy. I reach for my D Melbert as much as my E Fouke Indy Rail.

Kind of disappointing SX still puts a cover over the strings.

It looks thicker. Alas, still just a 6 stringer.

New keys, bridge, string-through, and, pick-up, turned my SX into a player.

Kindling is just a blessed musical moment. To me, Gene Parsons may have been the best singer to ever have his dance card stamped BYRD. Soulful. But it wasn't until he flew the coop that he got properly highlighted--on his mellow, beautiful few recordings under his own name. imo Later, after Kindlin...
