Thanks so much for the tips and advice folks. Some great ideas here . I need to look more into it. Although Covid19 will probably put this on on the long finger for the moment for me. Will be sure to share the results here when I get started.

Thanks for the response Gene. Yeah MIDI is something I'm not too up-to-speed with so I need to educate myself on how best to go about it. There are MIDI inputs on the Strymon anyway and the manual advises what CC values it needs to activate that setting. Just I just need to get my electronics hat on...

Sensor to control MIDI

A question for you effects pedal nerds out there... I'm fascinated by Russ Pahl's Sho-Pro with onboard effects and the accessibility and versatility it provides him. I put together a simple mini pedal board holder with two Sho Pro leg clamps attached to a couple of lightweight shelf hooks to elevate...

Steel -> VP -> Focusrite Scarlett -> DAW (Sonar X3) I've started to use Amplitube 4 as both a plugin and standalone in recent months for any recording projects that I work on at home or for where I can't get to the studio. It also has its own 8 track DAW which is really useful as you can monitor any...

Jackson Blackjack Interchangeable Pickup Options

Hi all This is probably for players of Jackson pedal steels specifically! I'm not too up to speed with changing/re-wiring pickups so any advice on this would be really appreciated. I'm currently looking into options to replace the stock single-coil pickup in my Jackson BlackJack Standard (2009) with...

Thank you very much folks! Glad you enjoyed it :D Classical pieces are made for pedal steel aren't they?! I gotta get some more tunes in the repertoire. @Tucker - yes, I love the Strymon pedals! They help add a really nice, subtle texture and there are loads of options within them to shape and EQ th...

Thanks for all the reponses folks. Wow, I guess there are quite a few Irish steel players but I probably just haven't been watching out. I think I'll be making the trip to the Convention in Drogheda this year, seems to be a good little community in Ireland. "I'm over the water from you but give...

Newbie from Ireland... any more Irish Steelers here?

Hello all... greetings from Cork, Ireland! I'm new to the Steel Guitar Forum and just thought I'd introduce myself. I have been dabbling in pedal steel for the past year, I took a gamble and bought a Carter Starter as I was intrigued with the instrument for quite a while. Been playing 6 string guita...
