'38 Ricky Lap Steel For Sale - Super Sound
For Sale: 1938 Rickenbacher lap steel guitar. Make offer. Plays great and if you didn't know about these, you should go do some research. One of the top lap steels you can own. Ridiculous sound. It can play pretty or it can SCREAM. That's why I bought it! Comes with cool original case. In any case, ...

Carter 3 Pedal Prev Used By Steve Byam On Austin City Limits
For sale: Years ago, I bought this Carter 3 pedal guitar from Steve Byam, who played it on Austin City Limits with Trace Adkins back in 1997. Make offer. Not a fire sale just looking for a reasonable market price. It has particular value since it has some history. You can see it in action: https://w...

Bob and Tony thanks for the input. I'm glad to hear that I'm actually probably ok with the equipment I have. Too many of us love to get the latest and greatest, and then by the time you really master the latest thing, there's something new that is supposed to be better. Right now I'll stick with the...

Pro Tools vs Boss Br-1600?
I have a Boss Br-1600 which I've had for some time. Works great, no problems. However, there seems to be so many people using Pro Tools these days, going the computer way for recording. I've been thinking about switching over if the Pro Tools will give me lots more control, make the recording/master...

TUNING KEY for '38 Ricky
I was in Seoul, Korea doing a job at a club and some drunk knocked my guitar case (1938 Ricky) on the floor. When I opened the case (hey, the cases in 1938 were not that great), one of the tuning keys had busted off! Now I have to tune that string on stage with a pair of pliers. Nice, esp. in the mi...

I just bought a 1940 Rick 10-string lap steel (B model I believe), Bakelite, etc. and am wondering if I could split the strings like I explained in my earlier post. I don't want to go around with 2 guitars and would like to use a C6th and also an open E tuning on the same guitar, if possible, becaus...

One potentially stupid question
This may sound idiotic, but I don't know the answer. If I have a 10 string guitar, is there some reason I couldn't or wouldn't want to set up, for example, an open E tuning on 5 of the strings and a C6th on the other 5 (leaving out a bass string on each, of course). Would the string tensions and dia...

The good thing about this forum is that there are so many good ideas and solutions. The bad thing about this forum is that there are so many good ideas and solutions. It's hard to decide which idea to try. The F-50 sounds good but so does the Double Trouble pedal. Other suggestions given are also vi...

FYI, I tried my Tubescreamer through my Fender Blues Deluxe, which, by the way, has a Master knob and also a Drive knob, I assume for some kind of overdrive. Even with the master up and the drive up, in all combinations, etc., the screamer gave me some additional hotness in the sound, but not the ov...

Do you know of an amp with good overdrive but clear sound?
Now that I've got this new Ricky, I am trying to decide what amp I can get to help me get closer to that overdriven David Lindley sound. I've been told to get an amp with a dedicated overdrive knob. All of my amps are Fenders and don't have such a specific control. Any suggestions? I need something ...

Terry: Thanks for the input. Unfortunately for me, I'm all thumbs when it comes to building things. You're a better man than I am! :) I was just wondering, aside from using walkers, keyboard stands, etc., if there are any companies making lap steel stands that anyone would recommend. I've seen a cou...

Newbie with a '38 Ricky needs advice on stands
Hi, everyone. I'm new to the group. I just purchased 1938 Rickenbacker B-6 which sounds great, of course, but I want to put the guitar on a stand rather than play it directly on my lap. Any suggestions for stands that are made for lap steel guitars? Any advice more than appreciated! Thanks.
Mike
