Barry, It appears that the switches on your guitar have been changed from DPST (double pole single throw} to DPDT (double pole double throw). Your model of guitar (1953-1955) was equipped with the DPST neck switches with no option to select between neck and bridge pickups; the neck was either on or ...

Barry, Go to this URL on my web page: http://www.juststeelguitar.com/images/Early_Stringmaster.gif The diagram shows the switch wiring for a quad. Just eliminate the two rightmost switches shown on the diagram and you will have the wiring schematic for your guitar. Each switch controls the pickups f...

I used 3/8" diameter stainless steel bar stock for the bridge and nut on my home-brew double. It works just as Alan has described.

Paul, The only variety of spruce I would consider using is Sitka spruce because of its high strength to weight ratio and its tough elasticity. My experience with Sitka spruce was in building an airplane. However, I question its ability to hold fasteners (screws). I guess it depends on what quality o...

Craig,
I think you'll find that when in C6th tuning, Jerry pulled up the second string half a step from C to C#,i.e., EC#AGEC#, an A7th tuning.
He plays Maui Chimes using only the top four strings in key of A on the open, 5th, 7th, and 12th frets
