Well I'm 6'2" and have an...er...robust frame. I'm currently waiting for Ed Naylor to send me some 2" rod extenders so I don't have to feel like I'm tap dancing when I'm playing. :-)

You want an honest answer? The singer isn't great, the steel is nice, the band (bass, drums, guitar) is OK. The song sucks. Just my 2 cents.

BMI parts

Having just bought a BMI D10 (8+7), I'm in the process of getting it all clean and set up to my liking (and height). I'm 6'2" and not delicate, you could say. I think I'm looking for some rod extensions. Anyone have any idea where I might locate some? It's either that or I'll have to have 2&quo...

I must have been REALLY nice. I got a D10 BMI. This weekend, I'm going to give it a good clean and try to get it to fit my 6' 2" body. No question about the tone, though.

Every time I look at it, it says "Merry Christmas". :-)

As a buyer, I'm fine with Paypal for small amounts. When it comes to more significant payments, I'm more in favor of wire transfers. I recently made a transaction of the latter type and the money was in the seller's account within minutes. Cost me $13, but that's nothing really. Hey, I got my goods ...

I'll buy a PURE and SIMPLE CD and whatever else you want to send me for a total of $20, which I'll put in the mail tomorrow.

Don't care if it gets here by Christmas or not. It's just a present for me.

Wade Seems like you've already gotten a lot of great advice from folks who know the subject way better than me, but I'll throw my 2 cents into the pot, too. I made the mistake a few years back of buying a ShoBud Maverick. Pretty quickly I was getting frustrated by the fact that there were so many th...

Very nice steel. If you have a reasonably fast Internet connection, you can hear and watch a "Notorious" video at this website:

Looks like Vince, Rodney and the band had way too much fun with this track. Enjoy.

I can only repeat what has been said many times before here. This is probably one of the greatest steel albums ever recorded. I've listened to it in my car to and from work (about 45 minutes each way) every day since July. I never get tired of it.

Tell me about MSAs

I've been offered an MSA SS 8+5 at a reasonable price (I think). Would anyone like to comment on these guitars. I know they weigh a ton and that's not a concern to a hobby player like me. Any other opinions would be great.

OK. Here comes an opinion from someone who really shouldn't have one at at all: a newbie. If you compare, for example, Hal Rugg, John Hughey and Lloyd Green, LG waves that bar around like nobody's business, making chords you never knew existed. Hal and John will sneak that harmony up on you when you...

Band-in-the-Box is great but limited. I think it's great for creating a rhythm track. In fact, you can do it in about three minutes, assuming you know the basic chords. What bugs me is that I want the base to do a certain "thing" and I want the piano or drums to do "that thing". ...

This place is amazing. You guys are so generous with your time, experience and advice. Thank you. Seeing as I already have a piano, I'll butter up the missus for a week or two and then start looking for a good used D10 with 5 knees. Then, if I still sound like doodoo, I won't be able to blame it on ...

Advice for a nu-b

I'm going to have to buy a steel quite soon. I can't stand not having one anymore. I had a Sho-Bud Maverick, which I "somewhat" learned to hack about on a couple of years ago. When I moved house, I sold it, fully intending to get something a little better sounding and less limited when thi...

Mature, expressive and haunting. This CD has been on REPEAT in my car since it arrived in the mail (with a note ...

There's an Audigy 2 Platinum ($199 in my local store), which gives you 24-bit sampling and would probably do nicely. If you want more inputs/outputs, you should check out the MAudio (Midiman) Delta range of cards. The Delta 66 has eight in and eight out on a breakout box. The advantage of the breako...
