Bob, Yummm, myrtle is one of my favorite woods; I bet it's a beauty. How does it sound? Are the Benoit's in the modern or trad sounding camp?

KJP's lapstyle ablums are definitely my favorites so I'll have to check out his new one. Thanks for the heads up.

The real deciding factor in any of these is the type of cone(s) and the spider vs biscuit bridge. I'd sure love to have a Weissenator type wood tricone.

Chris,

Well done! I really enjoyed the site and the fact that it was easy to navigate and even seems optimized for Safari. :D

Keep up the good work.

Todd, I sanded about 3/32" off the bottom of my bridge with no problems. It sure makes string changes and bridge adjustments easier and I'm still 3/8" above the last fret. There was no effect on tone.

I'll have to give those flattops a try.

Kyle, I started (not so long ago) on a converted Blueridge dred, but for me I found that my Lazy River is easier to play and sounds better to my ear. The LR doesn't have the super wide spacing of your Superior, so that could be a factor. I find the Weissenborn style guitar easier to play mainly beca...

Todd, Mine was also too high. I pulled out the bridge insert and sanded about 1/16 off of the bottom; just mark a line parallel with the bottom at whatever amount you want to remove and carefully sand using sandpaper lying on a hard flat surface. Make sure to keep the insert at 90 degrees to the san...

I just got off the phone with Frank at Republic guitars. He tells me that in response to the talk about removing the middle mushrooms, his new guitars don't have one. He also corrected my understanding about the Hard shell case. It is a heavily padded foam case. The way he explained it is that it w...

I have a Republic squareneck. I bought it because #1 I could afford it and #2 I wanted the tricone experience before committing myself to save for a National. I'm very happy with it and I love the tricone sound, so I guess I'll start saving. My experience in dealing with Frank at Republic was a good...

I have a GS that I'd like to round also. Could you post a picture of yours? I don't have a round nose bar to use as a model and would like to see what you did.

Thanks
