That guitar, or one like it, would look good next to this Fender 400. I have spoken with Dawn and seen several of their guitars around town. A Jackson is in my future! I feel the itch!! Enjoy that, Brett. Let's hear something you record with it!

Very interesting! Would it work to have some sort of acoustic Dobro mic inside the can, through a separate jack? In addition to the pick up, of course. This could be recorded on a separate channel then, and mixed with the electric/amp signal/track.

KLM broke the headstock off my 1960's Dobro between Amsterdam and Detroit. I fixed it myself. Now I only fly with Telecasters. I'd like to see them break one of those!

I believe it IS the hardest instrument. On what other instrument do you need both arms and both legs all doing different things and moving in opposite directions at the same time! The left leg is operating pedals AND knee levers, and the right leg is operating knee levers AND a volume pedal. I am a ...

Augmented is usually notated by adding a + after the number (5+) and diminished by using a small circle in the upper right hand corner of the number indicating the chord. (Like notating temperature)I don't have that small circle on my keyboard. Half diminished (m7b5) uses the same circle with a line...

I bought this guitar at Gruhn a little over a year ago. Although they are nice people, they do not seem to have any indepth knowledge of pedal steel guitars. A lot of their PSG's are on consignment. Jim Sliff, Donny Hinson and Russ Tcak (I probably mis-spelled Russ' last name) is your forum go-to-gu...

This is a 1964 Fender 400. It's tuned to A6, but I removed the F# string, so it's currently a 7-string. The gap from the missing string leaves a nice space between the low and high strings for playing Chet Atkins/Merle Travis style.

I have 110V dimmers for some lights in my control room. When I record (any instrument)I have to turn off those lights because the dimmers emit RF interference. The reverb in my steel amp(Peavey Nashville 112) has always had an annoying hum, so I use an Alesis Microverb instead.I have a 1964 Fender 4...

I can only relate to this as it pertains to guitars, because I'm too new at steel to feel the difference. Besides, I have only owned two. Although I own the Fender 400 in the picture, my main instrument is a Danelectro baritone guitar. I tune it down a 5th, so my open E is actually an open A, so I always play in the key of the 5-chord when playing a standard number chart. (some people tune theirs to B) Thinking of a standard string qu...
