What I think the biggest difference is on electric guitar it would not be uncommon for your volume knob to be all the way up, but on Pedal Steel it would be pretty rare for the volume pedal to be on full volume.

I mainly use the Strymon Flint, I find the 3 reverb year settings have enough variety for me, and also use the tremolo function on it for Organ Like effects.

I also have an older Nuenaber Wet Reverb that I like.

Height of the seat can make a big difference. I suggest getting a cheap drum stool to try out for a while to see how high/low you want to sit before you start cutting your steel seatlegs.
