I have the Behringer Euphoria UMC 1820 which has 8 tracks, quick connect with a USB cable, and as Gary stated there are no drivers to install. I have recorded live performances from the stage, as well as tracking for studio stuff. Well worth the investment. Portable and easy to take anywhere of cour...

Joe, I found your explanation not only compelling, but downright riveting. ;-) Jim, I think we punny people could "Cohen-side" in playing..If you know what I mean.. Thanks to everyone who answered here. I have learned a whole lot on this thread.. The first time I went to St. Louis and saw...

I remember meeting Mooney @ the Intl. Steel Convention in St. Louis in 1997. I had a classic country show on a radio station in Omaha and he was gracious enough to do an interview with me that night. We talked about the Bakersfield years with Buck Owens, and Wynn Stewart,as well as the album he did w...

Guys, I am very serious about learning the PSG..Did not mean to tick anybody off. That was not my intention at all.. I am beginning to believe I have been misinformed by the student model. I do appreciate everybody's input on building the instrument, and why it's priced the way it is. You guys have ...

I was fishing around tonight on the web and found a video of how it's made on building a steel. I can tell there is a lot of work that goes into them..

Does anyone here have a diagram on building PSG's?

I am up for the challange.. :)

Pat, thanks for the link. I will come and check out what you've got going on..Hope to learn a lot. Dave, as far as what you believe I have done, and whether or not I have been to steel conventions is not the issue.. I have looked up underneath a steel a few times, but no one has ever taken the time to...

we need a squire 'classic vibe' line of pedal steels. of course the problem is too small a market to develop. That's a blessing, not a problem. Chris, you are correct..This is what would blow the doors open on PSG.. I'll bet if there was a PSG that was easy to get into and chaper, you would see the PS...

My question is: If you don't own a pedal steel, how in the world can you pass judgement on Sho-Bud guitars? :x Pedal steel would definetely not be what or where it is today if Shot & Buddy had not started building instruments. Sho-Buds are beautiful instruments, both in sound & appearance. Of...

I wasn't talking about a new car in comparison. I was speaking of used..If you look at the used price of cars, you will find a new PSG is quite comparable in price.. I have looked at used, but nothing in my price range for what I would want.. Perhaps we need a mass production dealer who gets and buil...

Don't know much about a USB turntable, but I can tell you the best software to burn your vinyl to CD is Magix..Not only can you convert to mp3,but you can clean and remaster all your tracks..It's the best software I have ever used for vinyl transfers.. Your best bet is a real turntable hooked to a st...

Steel Guitar Pricing

I have been going off and on to steel guitar conventions for the last 14 years and enjoy them very much.. I have had a strong desire to get started learning and playing the Pedal Steel, but I have to say it is very frustrating when it costs as much for a PSG as a used car.. How can anyone in the PSG ...

Honestly, It's sad to say but in order to appeal to the younger crowd,it seems you can have the country background and lifestyle, but you can't sound country. I've said it before and I'll say it again when it comes to the current state of Country Music. Think logically, then think the exact opposite a...

Not true. When LeAnn Rimes came out with "Blue", it was current, and everyone loved it. More recently, when Strait came out with "Remember When", the old guard loved that one too.

I beieve it was Alan Jackson that has "Remember When"

This was Quoted earlier in the thread: I'm sorry, but to me this statement only makes sense if you leave Little Richard, Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry, Ike Turner, Fats Domino and many others out of the history of early Rock and Roll, which seems kind of indefensible to me. Rockabilly may have been a big ...
